China-India Accord to Scuttle UN Climate Treaty
American Thinker ^ | October 23, 2009 | William R. Hawkins

On October 22, an accord was signed by Xie Zhenhua, China's vice minister at the National Development and Reform Commission, and Jairam Ramesh, India's environment minister, in New Delhi.

The memorandum provides an alternative framework to counter pressure from America and Europe to adopt mandatory limits on greenhouse gas emissions in a new UN treaty.

The two Asian powers will collaborate on the development of renewable power projects and improved energy efficiency programs, while rejecting any outside mandates that would slow economic growth.

The United Nations has been holding forums around the world to build support for a new climate treaty to be drafted in Copenhagen in December to replace the expiring Kyoto Protocol.

The Kyoto document did not require the developing countries to do anything about reducing emissions. The United States and European Union have been trying to find some formula that would persuade the developing countries to sign on to the new treaty.

China and India, along with Brazil, Mexico and South Africa, have been adamant about staying out of any global requirement.

By forming regional alignments that keep policy in the hands of national governments, the developing countries expect to be able to resist Western and UN pressure.

Well, they probably have foreseen that the new treaty will again exempt them. So, what do they care?

Please let this be true! I never thought that Communist China would end up safeguarding our freedom. The world is truly upside down.

Bet that the Free-Trade Globalists will let the ChiComs and India pass on the Global Warming hysteria

More and more...the Global Warming crowd is just like the Free Trade crowd....put restrictions on America, so that it is easier to ship American wealth to COMMUNIST China and India. What the bad Free Trade deals could not do to destroy America....the Globalists will do with a bogus Global Warming treaty

No coinicidence that the Global Warming crowd is also the same as the Free Trade crowd (Gore, Clinton, Soros, Obama, the late Ted Kennedy, McCain)

The scam and hoax that the Global Warming scare is, is to weaken the US economy and military might after they have destoryed our banks, business, and put us in huge debt...
Anyone who does not see this is a fool.

“Well the only good thing about signing a UN Resolution is most countries know enough to ignore them........”

During his historic speech at the UN, The Wondrous Great World Leader announced not only would he sign the Climate Treaty, but all other UN treaties which his vile country has not yet signed. Both Ms Pelosi and Mr Reid assured him they would fast track the ratifications, possibly in a blanket bill.

You have to love the Chicoms! There's no way President Obama will get 2/3’s of the Senators present to ratify a treaty that will cripple our economy if China and India are exempt from emission reductions!

“I know, but we can just ignore them when Conservatives get back in office, everybody else does.”

Conservatives back in office? What are you smoking? Unless you are 20 something, it will not happen in your life time and maybe not even then. Fair elections have to be held first. The Franken and the Christine Gregoire election have set the format for the 2010 and 2012 elections - if either of them actually come to pass. Mao was not a big proponent of elections. As our Regulatory Tsar quoted the Chairman, “Power comes out of the barrel of a gun”. These are not your father's Democrats.

Whistling in the wind, perhaps. Hardening reslove for what could follow, yes.

Just think of Kyoto, UN mandates, climate treaties, global requirements and mandatory limits on greenhouse gas as a “derivatives trading” scheme with unlimited free cash for a spineless political class. Using American taxpayers to underwrite their Neo-Ponzi scheme to save the planet; the question is how is all this going to save anything that has existed more than 25 million years without their help. Further, name one Government Controlled Political Program ever, that has been critically reviewed demonstrating efficiencies and results promised.
