Eventually. When I’m ready to go 64-bit, maybe next year sometime.

What exactly will it let me do that I can’t already do with XP?

I think this is Microsoft’s strategy. Roll out something crappy that everyone has to buy, then replace it in a few years with something better that everyone buys and on and on.

It is nice to be on the Leading Edge and NOT the Bleeding Edge.

I’m getting it. My neighbor works for microsoft and he’s been raving about it. (First time he’s ever raved about a MS product in the seven years we’ve known him.)

I’m still swearing at Vista...not ready for another round of irritation so soon.

No, it runs fine on its own but does not run your older gamez and appz. Its “compatibility” features are overrated IMO

If anyone reading just surfs the web its great , highly recommend.

I never went for Vista - still on XP.

Are there any significant improvements of W7 vs. XP that will be noticeable? Or is it just different eye-candy?

On my next machine, possibly. Will stay with XP as long as this one lasts. I am above the minimum requirements for 7, but not by much. In cases like that, I’ve found it’s best to wait.

I would say I’ve been waiting for the Win7 rollout to buy my next computer...but, truth be told, I’ve actually not saved up quite enough money :)

But if I had, I still would have waited past tomorrow.

Had a Dell Inspiron 6000 that died after 6 years. Just received my Inspiron 17. It is huge. It seems to weigh less but is almost to big to be a laptop. I do love the fact that it has a number keypad, as I use it for accounting. It will take a bit of getting used to.

Yep. Want to get an upgraded gaming computer, but have been waiting for Windows 7 to come out first before taking the plunge. I already have my son’s college Vista laptop to upgrade to Windows 7 (from a couple months ago) when they send the upgrade in the mail. That one couldn’t wait. Easier to just buy it preloaded. Another day or so...

There’s a retailer doing upgrades for $30 IIRC.

That I don’t know.

I’m hoping it will speed up my machine (the Microsoft neighbor says it will), since I’d rather run the one I have ‘til it dies completely than buy a new PC.
