I believe he was there (I graduated in ‘82). But it’s possible to attend the school and be a complete no-show on campus, if you have the right connections. I wouldn’t be surprised if his handlers, including Bill Ayers, cooked up a special program for him where he attended off-campus sessions for credit.
The neighborhood around Columbia is typical urban congestion, most of it owned by the university, and I could easily see someone living off-campus, getting indoctrinated by his handlers, and being just “present” enough to fulfill requirements without being “contaminated” by other students.
The campus protester were amateurs and wannabes. Obama and his handlers at Columbia were the real thing.
Excellent observations! It is possible he did the minimium to graduate and spent the rest of the time with the likes of Bill Ayres and/or radical Isamists.
I graduated in 1978. In the alumni magazine a few months ago there was a recollection by someone who claimed to have lived off campus with Obama for a year or a semester, I can’t remember which.
There also was a drivel-ly article about unilateral disarmament supposedly published in the Sundial, a campus publication, under Obama’s byline. It read like the typical stuff put out by student radicals.
What professors in the political science department in 1982 would have backed a fraudulent student, in your opinion?

Off-campus and maybe overseas?
Which may explain all the confusion over WHEN (and how many times) he visited Kenya.

(From “Dreams” ... FWIW)
They stayed with Sadik and me for a few nights, then moved to a condominium on Park Avenue that a friend of my mothers had offered them while she was away. That summer I had found a job clearing a construction site on the Upper West Side, so my mother and sister spent most of their days exploring the city on their own.
