How do the pilots get experience if they have to have experience before they can fly anybody?

Flight Instruction (get flight instructor ratings and train students. Every hour training a student counts as if you are flying the plane), buying hours or buying your own airplane and building time, working as a parachute dropper/cropduster/sightseeing pilot/banner towing......stuff like that.

Once the magic hour limit is reached, send an application to the airlines and wait for a call-back. Based on buddies that have gone in the past few years, there would then be a technical interview, then a simulator session to check your flying skills, followed by a personnel interview. Then you're notified in one way or another.
