There is little debate about the value of Honduras as an American ally. As a democracy in an increasingly unstable region, Honduras has been a partner in the war on drugs, a necessary check against President Hugo Chavez's aggressive regime in Venezuela and an important $5 billion export market for American manufacturers through the Central American Free Trade Agreement. A stable and democratic Honduras is unquestionably in America's best interest.
I recently traveled to Honduras as part of a GOP congressional delegation observing efforts to ensure an open, free and fair election there this November.
When leftist President Manuel Zelaya sought an amendment to the constitution, which strictly limits the president to a four-year term, it caused great concern. Were Honduras to fall into dictatorial hands, the consequences would have been wide ranging and dangerous.

Viva! Honduras
Apparently, the Chicago Tribune had not received the White House memo stipulating that Barry deems otherwise? /s
In this case American interests and White House interests are at opposite ends of the rainbow.
Honduras ping
Barry will eventually be totally exposed. But yes, you are correct.
Yes, Hondurans want Freedom and to keep their Republic. Obozo wants to put in another Commie Dictator.
Call that Professional Courtesy form one Commie to another Commie?

Me in Honduras on a missions trip. (I'm the one with the hat on.) We built a church on the coastal region where poor, former slaves settled.
Great work. I appreciate your effort and the photo.
Here is another article that I read this morning that cannot be posted on Free Republic. (legal reasons?)

The Los Angeles Times
“Progress reported in Honduras coup crisis”
What a wonderful thing to do.
That is exactly the type of aid (voluntary and personal) that we should be providing to other nations, IMO. Not only the morally and legally correct method, but I’ll bet it is vastly more beneficial to our relations.
And we only put up the external structure (with the help of local church members.) They had the obligation of preparing the site, finishing the interior and adding the furnishings. While there was a "gift" of materials that they would never have been able to afford*, they had significant sweat equity in their facility when it was done.
*The local pastor hitched a ride with us across the country when we were done. At a convenience store, he asked me to buy for him a small bag of water that cost $0.05 US.
What kind of administration has secret State Department reports that are determinative of foreign policy?
The case of Honduras (In which Obama puts the eye patch over the good eye)Senator Demint sought an explanation of the administration's policy: "When I asked Ambassador Llorens why the U.S. government insists on labeling what appears to the entire country to be the constitutional removal of Mr. Zelaya a 'coup,' he urged me to read the legal opinion drafted by the State Department's top lawyer, Harold Koh."
Senator Demint would like to read Koh's opinion. "As it happens," Senator Demint reports, "I have asked to see Mr. Koh's report before and since my trip, but all requests to publicly disclose it have been denied."
Wake the eff up, America. The boxcars are being lined up and the Zyklon-B is in production.
I am not getting in a box car.
I will not be a good little Dhemmi.
And I have many many many friends who are just like me.
Some things do not change.
I’m not either but it’s pretty clear they are getting them ready. Metaphorically at least. 0bama and crew are acting very totalitarian in everything they do.
