I remember when Krispy Kreme doughnuts expanded into the Chicago area. I bought a dozen and brought them into work. They were soft, gooey, sticky and to my taste altogether yukky. I went back to Dunkin’ Donuts and never bought Krispy Kremes again

They’re the most overrated donuts I have ever tasted. I prefer the donuts that come from the grocery store bakery, if that tells you anything!

I don’t know if the Uncle Guiseppe’s Italian grocery chain is anywhere except Long Island, but...

Well, first of all it is the MOST beautiful grocery store I’ve ever seen, and they play the BEST music in the background (a combination of traditional Italian songs and stuff from the Rat-Pack era).

AND...they make fresh-baked donuts right in front of you. They make an sugared apple cider donut that is...I don’t even know how to describe it! It melts in your mouth and the cider flavor melds with the slight crunchiness of the sugar...it’s fantastic. If you can get them still hot...it’s heaven.

BTW..I’ve never had a KK donut, but DD is all over the place here in NY. I remember when DD was new, and all the donuts were made on-site. That is no longer the case, and it shows.

Regards,
