Like your handle. I had to read that book in high school and loved it.

I told my then fiance, now wife, that if the balloon went up I would try to call her from the capsule/launch control center and use that phrase. Not original but still...

Ya know what, let's not start a generational war here. I am 39 and an Xer. I vote straight GOP because of a lack of better options to the right. No generation in the history of man has done more to ruin American civilization than Baby Boomers. NONE! Not even a contest. They have to be the most spoiled, narcissistic whiners in the history of mankind, and that is not even close to being debatable. So if we Xers come up a bit short, cut us some slack, we are just trying to catch up with the utter disaster that Boomers left for us.

Please explain to me when buying stock turned into a “zero sum” game. I did not realize that for me to buy stock I had to do it at the expense of someone else. Please explain further.

“You know that republicans have held power right and they get nothing done?”

I didn’t mention republicans, I said conservatives, Many of the republicans are liberal as well and need to be thrown out. People need to do their homework before they go to the polls.

“My generation and my friends are the ones that are having to deal with it. We are the ones that see it. My tuition is being raised again and again and jobs are becoming fewer and fewer. We are the ones that are being screwed financially in the future and we did nothing wrong except being born at the wrong time.”

And it’s only going to get worse until we stop voting for promises...

Hear, hear! Coming up behind some of these people is a real chore, no doubt. Washington state is bad, but at least I don’t live in California. What a craphole...JFK

From what I hear, they didn’t fire him because he didn’t lie during the interview nor did he surrender any of that info. Doesn’t have a criminal record either. He just showed up the other co-workers by taking a cheaper alternative.

He even said during the interview that he will take any graphics test...and passed. I wish kids today were like him...

We are the ones that are being screwed financially in the future and we did nothing wrong except being born at the wrong time.

I felt the same way entering the job market with no skills or experience in the mid-'70s recession. Filling out multiple job aps every day for weeks to get a minimum wage job. ($2 p. hr. then) Being laid off for little or no reason because employers knew they had 100 other applications in their desks. And it certainly wasn't all Jimmy Carter's fault since the recession began before he took office.

But I look back on it now and realize that I have no one but myself to blame for not becoming a millionaire. Lots of others of my generation did with no more advantages than I had. The times don't make a man what he is his outlook on life does. In good times and in bad there are those who are victims and those who are doers. FWIW

I like how you followed that statement with a long whining rant about Baby Boomers. I guess the first statement wasn't meant to be taken seriously. lol

I worked a few bomber alert areas and weapons storage areas myself, back in the Cold War days. BISS, if you remember those guys.

I had thought about applying for silo duty, but glad I didn't. I heard it was very tough. No mistakes allowed. You guys had a tough row to hoe. So, thank you for your service. You did more than many to keep us safe.

The Titan Missile Museum is not too far from my home. They didn't call it Titan for nothing, that's one scary-big missile. That site was commanded by Col "Bear" Chambers, who also happened to be the Wing Commander at my first duty assignment, Holloman AFB in the early 80's. I was armament systems back then. 462X0.

Col Chambers went into 2nd Amendment rights issues after his retirement. One of the good guys.

Unlike Boomers, I don’t whine. I merely suggested not starting a war blaming other generations for things that YOURS is the most guilty of doing. In other words, for the Boomers still in the back of the VW buses stoned, don’t try to defend an indefensible position.

No my generation did not. 99% of Xers are over 30. But, even if they did do you REALLY want to go there? How many pols, who are boomers have and continue to be posion for this country? You are trying to defend the indefensible here. Boomers have been poison, face it and learn it before criticizing other generations. No your generation did not need X to get a woody, they could stick theirs into anything, pulse optional. My generation does not “need” it either. I mean, who would have thunk it! A boomer critcizing others for living the “better living through chemistry” lifestyle they perfected! lol

Right. I wouldn’t want to do anything so utterly stupid as to criticize another generation. /s

What would you call this? By the way, My post was not even directed at you. You decided on your own to butt in. You got owned in the debate, and then try to take the high road? Are you sure you are not a liberal?
