Wow.

Great post. I also see that the deadline for nominations was 11 days after he took office.

Time was when the award of the Nobel Peace Prize was highest accolade to a single human being in recognition of his or her body of work in the pursuit of peace. However, the award of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize has been reduced to a mockery.

Ever since Al Gore won the 2007 Prize, beating out Irena Sendler, the Nobel Committee has been a joke. For those who don't know, she rescued 2500 Polish Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto during in WWII – at great risk to her life.

There is an excellent link that summarizes exactly what she did to save those kids:

http://www.chabad.org/theJewishWoman/article_cdo/aid/939081/jewish/Irena-Sendler.htm

Irena Sendler never got a chance to be nominated again, as she died in 2008 and no Nobel Prize can be awarded to someone who is dead.

After 2007, I did not think that the Nobel Committee could ever top that Bozo selection. Yet, they did just that this year. There were others on the nominations list who were truly more deserving.

Al Gore and Barack Obama would have done much better to decline their awards. If they had stood up and graciously thanked the Nobel Committee for their selections, but asked that they be awarded to others more deserving, they would be thought more of of as statesmen and not the narcissistic prima donnas that they have become.

I wonder how much stimulus money the Nobel committee received?

Mighty convenient that Obama gets this award just days after the Olympic embarrassment.

Reading this list makes me even sicker.

Can you imagine what good some of these people would do with the money that Obama will be getting?

I feel like we're living in a perpetual Twilight Zone.

I don’t know if this question has been brought up yet on this thread, but WHO NOMINATED OBAMA AND WHY??

A presidential historian from Rice University (on Greta who asked the same question) just said that the records are sealed for the next fifty years. I asked this question this afternoon on the Rush thread and no one could answer - now we know why. Very strange.

Thanks for that list. Wanted to know who was passed over in order so those 5 Euro-weenies could “honor” Comrade Obama.

Now I want to know has the Nobel Peace Prize EVER gone to those who have stood up to tyrants in this world as did several of those who did NOT win this now joke of a prize?

I don’t recall it if that has happened,....

We should not expect people who value freedom from tyranny to be “honored” by people who have willingly surrendered themselves to the “soft” tyranny of socialism that is Europe’s milk and honey.

I would say those who LOST are truly the worthy ones and that it’s a good thing they were not so “honored” since to do so would be to place them on par with the likes of the lowlifes who have recently been so “honored.”

God bless them all! Thank GOD for their courage and achievements.

The Nobel Peace Prize has become such a joke that awarding it to the people “who were passed over for Obama” would cast suspicion on their achievements.

Here’s a link with an account of the “Sad History Of The Nobel Peace Prize”: http://sweetness-light.com/archive/dtn-history-of-the-nobel-peace-prize

The King of Norway would do well to to change the name of the Nobel Peace Prize to the “Nobel Dubious Distinction Award”.

On the day of President Obama’s glorious Nobel Appease Prize victory, a Taliban henchman gloats in Afghanistan in the aftermath of the Kamdesh siege:

Thanks for posting this list, and it shows how each person is head and shoulders above Obama in terms of qualifications and achievement. It is an insult to these hero’s and many, many others (not listed) who were far more deserving and relevant to peace in this world.
Tragically, the Nobel leadership JUST DOESN’T GET IT.

If you read thru the list, and read about all of the also-rans, you will not find a single one who is promoting Hope and Change. These are people who instead, have spent their lives actually implementing Hope and (positive) Change.

Well considering who recieved this “award” in the past, (Roosevelt, Wilson, Carter, need I say more?)

most of these people at the very least the anti-communist guy, would have turned this award down anyway.

How long ago did this bunch start accepting applications for a winner? One month, 6 months, or 10 months ago?

Since I do not pay attention to the workings of this bunch I do not know what their rules are. Who submitted BamaKennedy and when did ‘they’ submit BamaKennedy’s name? HOW proud old Teddy would be today to see his younger brother be so honored. (only slight sarcasm)

It is sure interesting for somebody who just appeared on this earth with no official documentation from birth to the US Senate to be given all these global acknowledgments for just being.
