Inexcusable. Zero-tolerance started out as a “good idea”, and the unintended consequences have been atrocious. Tell him this will probably actually help him get into Hudson High - they like the “be prepared” types! And tell him there’s one reserve Colonel proud of his preparedness and his attitude.

Colonel, USAFR

Zero-tolerance started out as a “good idea”,

Actually it didn't. "Zero tolerance" is a crutch for idiots.

Inexcusable. Zero-tolerance started out as a “good idea”, ...

It may have been presented in a way to seem like a good idea but its effect is to relieve administrators of any room for considering the individual situations, any room for common sense. There was a one-size-fits-all solution, period. That is the way with most bureaucracies.

... and the unintended consequences have been atrocious.

Liberal policies always seem to be plagued with unintended consequences. After 70+ years of consistently unintended consequences resulting from liberal policies sooner or later one must conclude the consequences were intended after all.

Add an Air Force Master Sergeant to the folks proud of his preparedness and attitude. This country needs more people like this young man, and far fewer like that brain-dead administrator.
