As I said in a previous thread, I know from experience that you cannot really cover up very well just using your blouse. I don’t care whether you are pulling up your blouse to nurse, or unbuttoning it, you are going to be showing some skin, and it is going to be obvious what you are doing. That is particularly true with an older baby who will get distracted by what is going on around it, take a break, pull away leaving the nipple exposed, then go back to nursing. THIS KID WAS NEARLY TWO, FOR PETE’S SAKE. All it requires is a light blanket, or a sweater, or something you can throw over yourself. This woman was offered a lightweight blanket but refused to use it. Why?

If it was making others in close proximity to her uncomfortable — it is a rather intimate act, after all — she should have had enough courtesy to do use the blanket.

Do I think it is disgusting? Of course not. I’ve breast fed six kids myself, including on planes and in other public places. If you are modest, hardly anyone realizes you are doing it. But I’ve encountered the exhibitionists often enough. They are getting off on upsetting some people, and feeling self-righteous at the same time.

I didn’t breastfeed a 2 yr. old, but I know if you try to put a blanket over a 2 yr. old the child will simply pull it off anyway.
