This is probably a case of bitch vs bitch.

Probably. People say men never back down but I swear after a combined 20 years of marriage it's women who have by FAR the biggenst propensity for taking a percieved slight way over the edge.

It is hard to know whom to root for in this one but given my personal experience with 'flight attendants' I'm forced to go with the Plaintiff here.

There is no way to determine the outcome of this lawsuit, its appropriateness, or the guilt or innocence of the parties WITHOUT PICS!

lol. Well, despite my gut reaction, it looks like she’s got the law on her side, and knew it. I think she was trolling for a lawsuit and succeeded. All’s fair, as they say. The airline will pay for it. They’ll train their people on it and move on.

Gillette told USA Today that she wasn’t exposing herself. “She purposely sat in a window seat and she was holding down her shirt while nursing.

For moms flying with children and babies, breast-feeding is common. It helps soothe and quiet a child and equalizes little ears.”

So, for all those who claim she “whipped it out” or was purposefully exposing herself, read the article again. She WAS covered. It WAS the flight attendant who made an issue out of her breastfeeding her kid.

But, common sense is in pretty short supply these days.

In my experience common sense is one of the rarer things in the Universe.

I support the idea of breast feeding, but if I had to sit 6 inches from a stranger breast feeding a 2 year old without a cover, I’d object!

Hang on ;-)

We all have a right to free speech. But. For instance ...

*IF* a flight attendant instructs you to stop talking and pay attention to his/her instructions, you are LEGALLY required to follow his/her instructions.

It follows that *IF* a flight attendant instructs you to cover up your ‘chest’, close your laptop, stop hitting the seat in front of you, raise your window shade, buckle your seat belt, stow your gear, wear shoes in the aisle, whatever ... you ARE required to comply.

I say the airline has standing here. again, my opinion.

This is a federal lawsuit. There is no federal “right to breastfeed.” It would be interesting to know whether she is bringing a state law claim in federal court, or if she is trying to make a Title VII claim out of this.

If it’s a federal claim, that would explain the three year time lag. You have to file an administrative claim before filing a federal claim, and that can take three years.

In any event, I hope she loses.

Usually by two, they have teeth and should be eating solid foods.

You can’t cover yourself all that well just using your blouse. Believe me. I know. You always keep a lightweight blanket or something similar to throw over yourself. If you do that, chances are, nobody glancing at you will even know you are breastfeeding.

Common sense is definitely a misnomer, an oxymoron, right up there with jumbo shrimp. It should be renamed basic sense. And yes, it’s rare. So is common courtesy.

“I looked it up.”

When was the law passed?

In any event, I hope she loses.

Too bad there's no way for both of them to lose. Given my rather intimate personal experience with 'flight attendants' I can easily imagine how this thing went down.

I've got a buck that says this is a case of a "respect my authoritay" stewardess versus a raving Vermont liberal moonbat.

Best,

L

Don’t know. I googled it. The info is out there. I don’t feel like looking it up again.
