The Norwegian Nobel Committee on Friday awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2009 to US President Barak Obama.
The Nobel Peace Prize is an international prize which is awarded annually by the Norwegian Nobel Committee according to guidelines laid down in Alfred Nobel's will. The Peace Prize is one of five prizes that have been awarded annually since 1901 under the auspices of the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm for outstanding contributions in the fields of physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, and peace. Starting in 1969, a Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel has also been awarded.
Whereas the other prizes are awarded by specialist committees based in Sweden, the Peace Prize is awarded by a committee appointed by the Norwegian Storting. According to Nobel's will, the Peace Prize is to go to whoever "shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses". The prize includes a medal, a personal diploma, and a large sum of prize money (currently 10 million Swedish crowns).
The Nobel Peace Prize has been called "the world's most prestigious prize". The Prize is awarded at a ceremony in the Oslo City Hall on December 10, the date on which Alfred Nobel died.
The Nobel Committe was force to announce this early today because Rob Blogovitch was awarded Obamas slot on the Apprentice.
Donald Trump announced last night that while Obama showed great narcissistic promise he was to inneffectual to make a good Toady.
The Nobel Committe jumped in to salve the pain of the loss of Obama’s race for the spot on the Trump show.
That clinches it. Now we know. He’s a menace. Just consider all the other recent recipients of the Nobel Piece Price (sic), and you have to conclude that anyone who gets that award is baaaad news.
Mine broke. It’ll take me a month to clean up the mess.

Great observation ... Zero was nominated for his presidential campaign (because he was barely in office and had no “accomplishments” on the world stage)?
This is “image and words” over deeds — just like the Carter & Gore awards. Something like a hang-over.

Zero - might be failed country

This bauble lost any and ALL significance the day they awarded it to Arafat.
Awarding it to Obama is merely a continuation of the parody.

Perfectly logical, when one looks at the list of previous winners. Such list is rife with terrorists, dictators, thugs, and their enablers.
It's been all over Rush that Oprah ate Norway after the Olympic selection meeting. I'll leave it to everyone's imagination what is left.

I used to think the talk Obama was the anti christ was silly. Now, I'm not so sure.
It is my sincere hope that this senseless award will finally wake people up to the fact that the Nobel Committee is a bunch of political hacks, and that the Nobel Prize has been a joke for a long, long time.
That said, this disgusts me. This is more of a slap against President Bush than anything else. It almost makes me glad that the Swedes are going to be bred out of existance within the next 50 years or so.

I lost any interest in tracking who won this "prize" when it was awarded to Arafat. Does anyone know when (if ever) it was given to someone honorable?
