It’s an essential part of their scientific method, which they have neglected to pursue themselves.

Didn't think that Evolution or Creation held up well against the scientific method?

“Didn’t think that Evolution or Creation held up well against the scientific method?”

Well, creation doesn’t really need to prove itself by the scientific method, in my opinion. After all, the scientific method doesn’t allow the possibility of a supernatural creation to even be proposed as a hypothesis. To attempt to prove creation merely by applying the scientific method, is to fall into a trap and doom yourself to failure.

Evolution, on the other hand, purports to be a scientific doctrine, and yet it’s proponents have abandoned critical analysis of the weaknesses of their own theory. If they are really so sure of it’s accuracy, they should welcome criticism as it will either confirm their beliefs, or reveal flaws that they should have a desire, as scientists, to rectify. Of course, there is the third possibility; that allowing the theory to be questioned will reveal that it is completely untenable. That possibility is probably the one which they are most afraid of and goes the farthest in explaining their irrational defensiveness.
