I guess owning a film camera in those days was pretty rare too.My late MIL had National Geographics going back to the 1920's, and I always found the advertising very interesting.
Common themes were The Safety of Banks, The Fun of Traveling the World, and How Easy Our Movie Camera is to Use...
As I recall, you got about 3 1/2 minutes from a 50 foot roll, at the lower ( 18 fps ) speed.
We sure have it easier, now.
