Is Alan Grayson the Democrats' Joe Wilson?
Yahoo! News Blog ^ | 9/30/09 | Brett Michael Dykes

Tuesday night, Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida, a Democrat representing the state's 8th district, which includes the cities of Orlando, Eustis and Ocala, took to the floor of the House of Representatives armed with an easel and three posters to deliver his interpretation of the Republican's health care reform plan. Printed on the three posters were the individual points of the "very simple" Republican plan, according to Rep. Alan Grayson. They were:

1. Don't Get Sick 2. And If You Do Get Sick ... 3. Die Quickly

Needless to say, Rep. Grayson's biting floor speech didn't go over well with the Republicans in the House, reminding some political observers of Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst during President Obama's recent address to Congress. Longtime Republican Congressman Jimmy Duncan of Tennessee called the outburst by the freshman representative "the most mean-spirited partisan statement that I've ever heard made on this floor," adding that he personally didn't "appreciate it." Others demanded an apology from Rep. Grayson, who has so far refused to apologize, unlike Wilson, who issued an apology soon after interrupting the president's speech.

However, unlike Joe Wilson, who serves a heavily conservative district in South Carolina, Rep. Grayson's actions may not sit well with constituents in a district that, despite swinging toward Obama in 2008, voted overwhelmingly for George W. Bush in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections.

According to the bio on his website, Rep. Grayson grew up in the tenements of the Bronx and put himself through Harvard working as a night watchman and a janitor, graduating at the top of his class as a Phi Beta Kappa honoree. After finishing law school and embarking on a legal career, Grayson started a telecom/Internet business, IDT Corp, that grew into a $2-billion a year, Fortune 1000 public corporation. ...

This guy makes Wilson look prim and proper. He is a loud-mouthed gasbag with a very bleak future if he plans on continuing in electoral politics in central Florida.

Grayson’s remarks were so egregious, so dishonest, and so insulting that he must have something up his sleeve, such as a cushy appointed job with Hussein’s administration. His words surely are making points with the Obamanoids while they are making him a pariah in his district, which had been consistently Republican until last year.

No Wilson was telling the truth, while Grayson’s line “hurry up and die” describes the Dim health care bills that ration care to the elderly.

He can't be - if Grayson was really similar to Joe Wilson we'd already have been treated to numerous stories in the Rahm-controlled media about how Grayson's Republican opponent for 2010 has received 23 bazillion dollars in contributions since Grayson's "disrespectful outburst".

Remember how Joe Wilson was the greatest fundraising tool the Rats had, at least for a few minutes?

There are several decent Republican candidates - but none have announced yet - to oppose this dirty Rat in 2010: Dan Webster? Rich Crotty?

I can't wait for the media to report how this incident has boosted Republican fundraising - you know, just like Joe Wilson did for the Rats (ha ha....)

Yo, Brett “Duma$$” Dykes,

Alan Grayson is NOT the same as Joe Wilson.

Joe Wilson spoke the truth.

Grayson lies.

Just like the premise of your article.

His district I think is Orlando, Lake County and Ocala. How safe is his seat? Maybe he is angling for an admin job after he loses.

The next civil war is no longer a matter of IF, but WHEN it will start IMO thanks to a$$hats like that.

Every poltician from our local city councils to Crapital Hill in Washington D.C. needs to be kicked out of office.

Not safe at all. Winning by 52-48 in a Democrat year can’t give him a secure feeling for the mid-term election.

I think he’s trying to make points with Obama too. He should fit right in at the White House. Surely, Grayson can see the writing on the wall and that’s why he’s doing a scorched earth attack on the pubbies right now.

I’ve got no use for the demeanor displayed by either one of them in the two instances in question, but at least Wilson’s foray into mind reading and motive detecting was done on the spur of the moment. Grayson’s crudeness was a premeditated proclamation that anybody who disagrees with Rep. Grayson’s idea of proper health system reform is an depraved devil. The mindset that converts policy disagreement into issues of morality will play well on sites like Democratic Underground, but I doubt that the great mass of the American middle will be well-disposed to the strident self-appointed judges of civic morality.

Sometimes I wonder if the Father of Our Country was George Washington or Jerry Springer.
