I think the “talked to General McChrystal once in 70 days” story was a huge eye-opener and drove this precipitous drop.

His true-beliver supporters are below 30%. That is great. Wait until he actually has to make some key decisions and starts disappointing if not PO...ing even more people.

The spin is the same. They will laugh at those that disagree and say, “come on, the President can multitask.”
I say then why doesn’t the President Multitask his arse on over to Afghanistan and see his General on his way over?
And after I post this thought, he will now do a surprise “drop in” and have turkey with the troops and say problem solved.
You may ask how I know this? Well, they always read my post for advice.

That plus his playing kissy-kissy with Iran even as the announcment of the nuke facility was made.
Our having to look to France for actual leadership does make a point to many Americans.

"I predict a "wag the dog" moment coming in the not too distant future....." Not going to be as easy to do as it used to be. The American people desperately wanted to give Obama the benefit of the doubt. This admin interprets that as stupidity and weakness at their own peril.

Not going to be as easy to do as it used to be. Still, something will happen to get this, his health care debacle and his Copenhagen double carbon footprint, among other things, out of the headlines....wait and see.....

I don’t think so. It will be a true blue F up catching up to this administration that gets a lot of people in this country or Israel killed.

Geez, people are manic!
Actually what is interesting is that despite all the moves on the poll, the overall approval has stayed extremely consistent at 49 Approve 51 Disapprove. All the movement was caused by Obama's joint session and media blitz bringing up his strongly support numbers. Now that that is going away we are back to where we were in mid September. Obama got a big jump in the "Strongly Support" group, but it appears to have come almost entirely from the "Kinda Support" group so it didn't help him overall.
That big jump did spook a lot of people, myself included. It was just getting his own troops fired up, but didn't actually increase his numbers. Easy to see now, not so obvious a week ago. As for those who said it was all temporary and not to worry, well they get to do the I-told-ya-so dance today. And I for one am glad to see them doing it.
