I’m sure the people in charge of this learned about how wonderful the cultural revolution was from their college professors.
According to Wikipedia, the North Korean regime was established on September 1, 1948. The Chicoms did not establish their government until 1949 and the article did use the term 'government'. I will grant that they were establishing it by conquest but they did not expel the Nationalist forces until 1949.
This is just plain ignorance and laziness on the part of AP. They cannot be trusted to do their basic homework, which is why we should NEVER trust what they say.

Amen to that! My wife gets tired of me saying, "There's something every day! It doesn't stop! What are we (America) going to do?" The 9/12 March was a wake up call. I swear if this keeps escalating, there will be secession, a civil war or something. Not fomenting here, just a gut feeling that real Americans will not just sit by and see the country taken over by Communists and turned into the U.S.S.A.. .

Let me see if I have this right. We have the Empire State Building (an Icon of Capitalism) lit up celebrating the anniversary of the People’s Revolution and the triumph of communism in China.
Clearly the Chinese government has chosen to use this to send a message: “WE OWN YOU”. The particulars of why this was agreed upon may be of lesser importance in the grand scheme of things. The Russian expression would be roughly translated: “checkmate”.
As the expression goes, “May you live in interesting times.”
