President Obama will travel to Copenhagen to make a pitch for Chicago’s Olympic bid, White House officials have confirmed to NBC News.
Obama will leave for Denmark Thursday night, hours after his wife Michelle departs for the vote. The president made the final decision Saturday night after returning from the G20 summit in Pittsburgh.
The announcement ends months of speculation of whether the president would lend his considerable fame to the pitch. The president has dropped hints all month long that he may attend the event.
Last week he sent an advance team to Copenhagen just in case he could make it ...

The military general credited for capturing Saddam Hussein and killing the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq says he has only spoken to President Obama once since taking command of Afghanistan.
“I’ve talked to the president, since I’ve been here, once on a VTC [video teleconferece],” General Stanley McChrystal told CBS reporter David Martin in a television interview that aired Sunday.
Oprah’s going with Barry and there is no way they’d be going if Chicago wasn’t getting the Olympics. “Nobody puts Barry in the corner”.

Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. Colorado Springs time, there will be a big audience of our town’s residents glued to a television set or the internet with a sense of anticipation and emotion not unlike watching the Power Ball results with a pot of millions……….that’s the time for the International Olympic Committee’s decision among Chicago, Rio, Madrid and Tokyo for the distinction of staging the 2016 Olympic Games…….the suspense is intense, and the coverage this week will be staggering…..already in Chicago, both newspapers are tasking their columnists for something special from every angle –sports, society, business, gossip and punditry, with one theme about who will be on the Chicago 2016 charter plane and who sits where………its Mayor jetted off for Copenhagen with reporters shouting at him about costs, inside deals for cronies and all the usual stuff you get with Chicago politics, and Hizzonor ripping the media for damaging the bid by writing about it………

NObody does! It’s insane ... the murder capital of the US .. billions in debt .... rotting infrastructure. The place will be torn up for 5 yrs, from stem to stern, just to make it pretty for 2 wks, and afterward, the huge bills for tax increases will spring forth for the residents like sprouting spring flowers.

I am sure he will bring along just enough promised kickbacks to sway the judges to hold the games in Chicago.Like you said, it’s amazing that he can find time for this..yet our soldiers wait for directions, forgotten in Afghanistan! This man is beyond contemptible.
