Hey don't slander NY! Crime is well under control in NY state and city now for a number of reasons. NYC's "CompStat" and the broken windows theory are usually credited as big reasons why.
The
violent crime rate and murder rate in NY state (434.9 and 4.8 per 100k, respectively) is lower than that of Oklahoma (497.4, 5.8), Michigan (562.4, 7.1), Maryland (678.6, 9.7), Louisiana (697.8, 12.4), Arizona (501, 7.5), Arkansas (551.6, 7.3), South Carolina (765.5, 8.3), Texas (516.3, 5.9), Tennessee (760.2, 6.8), and California (532.5, 6.8), just to name a few.
The NYC crime rate is
comparably much better than other cities like LA, Chicago, Houston, Philly, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Dallas, Detroit, Memphis, even Milwaukee. Take a look for yourself.
For
just murders LA, Gary IN, Birmingham, Youngstown, and Richmond lead. NYC isn't even in the top 100. Here are some
more metros for comparison.

Like so many “hate” crimes. They draw their own swastikas, set their own lawn crosses afire, spray paint their own “hate speech” grafitti on their houses, etc.
