I’ve since seen the clips—tiny and on my computer screen. I was afraid he had dentures that were slipping or something and so he’d look and sound like a doddering old man. You’re acutely observant and probably had a bigger screen than I did, but I thought his shirt was okay and, again, in miniature, he looked and sounded fine.

We love Top Gear. Best show was in Vietnam on the motorcycles.

I have nerve deafness, Rush had Conductive hearing loss. It can be helped a lot. Can’t regenerate nerves yet though.

I always wondered why Jay didn’t get his chin cropped. I guess by the time he had the money for it, he was already famous and it was a trademark of sorts.

.

That car is a retro mod of the early 50s Mercedes 300SLR that was raced in ‘53, ‘54, ‘55

Stirling Moss and his co-driver/mechanic won Mille Miglia by over a 1/2 hour over the 2nd place car

They have 2 in the car at Mille Miglia

It had a straight 8 racing engine built by putting 2 Mercedes 4-cylinder engines together - and had lots of inovative modifications - including an air-brake flap behind the 2 in the cockpit that raised up to create more drag to slow the car faster than just using the brakes

Last race was at LeMans in 1955 when one of the 300SLRs hit a much slower and smaller modified production sportscar on the straight in front of the crowd - killed over 70 spectators I believe

Mercedes pulled the remaining two 300SLRs from the race and quit racing the 300SLR

I believe the drive of the 300SLR was a Frenchman Mercedes had hired to drive the ‘55 LeMans 24-hour race

Rush drives a Mercedes McLaren 300SLR Coupe

It tops 200mph with ease

On FNC I see that Obama managed to schedule his boring speech at the G20 in Pittsburg to step on Glenn Beck’s FNC show with the ladies

Jay Leno put on a few pounds and his chin was less noticeable

It also became his trademark

My father's a retired dentist so he would always comment on people's dental work.

Yes, Rush looked great and he sounds fine on the radio, as I have crappy reception where I live, but seeing and hearing him on my TV, I could hear that he sounded a little different.

I believe that is the SLR Rush has - I’d say he selected traditional silver - not the convertible - this has doors that swing up and forward somewhat like the Lambos - not like the 50s Mercedes 300SLR gullwing coupe or the 50s/60s 300SL gullwing coupes.

Not sure of the horsepower - it is either 716hp or 617hp - Twin-Turbocharged - The McLaren SLR Mercedes is designed and made by McLaren International and Mercedes-Benz - They also partner in Formula One racing cars

Enyhoo is tops out quickly a well over 200mph - a nice advantage in Palm Beach traffic.....

It is a large and heavy car - luxury, comfort, style - but it handles and accelerates faster than many custom-built drag racing cars and could take off if it had wings.

How much did it cost?

Don’t ask.....

The doors that open upward sound neat but I'll bet many have cracked their heads getting out too fast.

My Lincoln has terrific pickup, has helped me in many instances, but I doubt anyone is going up to 200MPH in Palm Beach traffic - would amaze me.

I have a cute picture of Piper sitting under the bright yellow HUMMER down at the beach. He does that to prevent people ‘leaving him’, lol.

Your Lincoln likely has the big 460ci engine in it.

A heavy car needs a torquey engine like that.

You should post your Piper/Hummer photograph!

Had to resize it and upload it. He has learned, at home, that if he gets left behind a time or two, he will go sit under the back of the car or truck, lol. It's really cute.
