If you don’t know already, you have to watch Allmendream because he is a known liar for Darwin, but in this case what he says at least has an element of truth to it. As an evo-extremist, Allmendream likes to compare Christians who believe in biblical creation to Islamist terrorists. Whenever he does this, in addition to pointing out that this is a false and utterly vile comparison, I also point out that many of the terrorists that are traditionally thought of as “Islamic” are in fact revolutionary communists, and that many of the Islamic terrorists that are motivated by religious hatred, are in fact aided and abetted by the political left. For some reason, this really seems to bother the (Christian creationist-hating) Allmendream.

It’s the Richard Dawkins influence, you know the supposed genius atheist who says 911 happened because of religion as if all religion and religionists are cut from the same cloth and driven by the same impulses. It would be like saying all secularists are sullied by the murder of 100,000,000 people by such infamous secularists as Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot among others who unleashed communist murder on vast swaths of the earth during the 20th century.
I think when one resorts to putting all people of a belief system into the same bucket as a few bad actors, it’s an admission you lost the debate. Such overcharged demonization serves no intellectual value other than to create shock value and distraction from the weaknesses of their other arguments.
But like you said, I tend to think these people who use Islam to achieve their nefarious goals use it because it’s convenient, not out of any real commitment to Islam. Why else did the 911 hijackers spend the night prior to the 911 attacks getting lap dances? Doesn’t sound like anything in keeping with Islam’s tenants that I’ve ever heard.
No, if there were some other ideology with the same popular appeal as Islam in the Middle East these beasts would be using that vehicle instead to achieve their anti-social goals. It’s just a means to gain popular approval with many of these nihilists.
