Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is the preferred 2012 GOP presidential nominee among Christian conservatives, according to the results of a straw poll announced Saturday at an annual gathering of the religion (sic) right in Washington.

Prominent Republican leaders, including House Minority Leader John Boehner, took to the stage at the Value Voters Summit to blast President Obama's spending policies and announce the top 2012 presidential pick among conservative voters.

The summit's poll, which featured 9 presidential prospects, found that 28 percent of Christian conservatives said Huckabee would revive the Republican party and traditional conservative principles while 12.4 percent preferred former Massachustts governor and presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Other strong contenders included Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who won over 12.23 percent of conservative voters. Former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and Indiana Rep. Mike Pence came out in in a virtual tie at 12.06 percent and 11.89 percent, respectively.

Huckabee is one of them, and he’s a visible figure on the cble news station many of these values voters watch. These values voters, many of them moderate “choice” voting Baptists, Catholics and Evangelicals,

I would like to see some evidence of "These values voters, many of them moderate “choice” voting Baptists, Catholics and Evangelicals," that watch Huckabee, do you have some evidence that many "evangelicals for instance are moderate or whatever "choice" you meant?

Hard to tell what motivates them.

In the Oct. 2007 Straw poll Romney with 28% ecked out Huckabee by 30 votes while Paul came in 3rd with 15% and Thompson 4th with 10%...

You can wonder all you want but you don’t have to make it up and smear people with false accusations, none of those people poll well anywhere.

Personally my opinion is that Jindal will be very popular among the religious right when his time comes, as far as I know they are the ones that make the majority among his currently small group of fans.

Christian Socialists do not choose small government

What Christian Socialists? The more devout a voter is, then the more conservative they are, the less devout equals less conservative, and anti-Christian equals vastly more likely to be liberal.

How do you think the two parties divide, it is church goers versus democrats.

What is really needed is a one day 50-state National Primary.
The argument that it cannot be done is ridiculous. If we can have a National General Election Day, we can have a National Primary Day as well. Freepers in all states need to contact their Congressmen and Senators and demand that this be accomplished. Get rid of this “Super Tuesday” BS and this
caucus BS. All that does is give the State Run media the opportunity to push their candidates.

I am not troubled by the straw poll at all, because all of the people in attendance will happily support her. I’m certain Huckabee won because he gives a good speech and this time only those in attendance could vote, so Romney couldn’t steal with Internet voters.

You sure nailed it with that post.

Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. Robert A. Heinlein

Dear Lord in Heaven some are being fooled by a man who bastardizes his religion for political expediency. The left is already full of Christian socialists. The right doesn’t need any more.

No, he wouldn’t. Because he would do more damage to Christianity than any one else in history. Screwing the USA is one thing. But screwing the USA and Christianity is a big HELL NO.

Can you translate that into English?

How did that answer my statement?

Let's face it...Kerry, Kennedy, Pelosi and their ilk haven't made it easy for conservative Catholics to get much traction.

I don't know if you will be a Jindal fan or not, but watch him as time goes by and watch how Protestants and Evangelicals react to him. Jindal is a red blooded, all American Catholic, his Catholic journey and passion is very much like an Evangelicals, you are going to see some unprecedented anti-Catholic, anti-Christian attacks against him by the media because he really believes and he has acted on that in the past.

Jindal was brought to Christianity by a Southern Baptist but as he pursued answers and when it came time for him to choose a church he determined that the Catholic faith was his path, well Protestants love that connection of a personal search and deep commitment and I think that Jindal feels a deep connection with his fellow Christians of the Protestant faiths.

I think that Jindal will do very well with the religious right when his time comes to be front and center.
