Health Reform: Liberal Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.V., complains of a "big, big tax" on the middle class in the Senate health bill. But massive new taxes are only one part of the pain.
To finance the Democrats' radical transformation of America's medical, Sen. Max Baucus of Montana proposes a new 35% excise tax on private health insurance plans that cost $21,000 per family or $8,000 per individual.
During a conference call with reporters on Tuesday organized by the liberal Campaign for America's Future, finance committee member Rockefeller warned that "the tax will be put on the company and the company will immediately pass it down" to its policyholders.
Rockefeller was especially worried about higher health premiums for coal miner constituents, for whom health coverage is a grave concern. The Baucus proposal means that "virtually every single coal miner is going to have a big, big tax put on them," said Rockefeller, calling it "a very dangerous idea, and I'm not even sure the coal miners in West Virginia are aware that this is what is waiting if this bill passes."

“In last year’s campaign, the president repeatedly promised no new taxes of any kind for families making under $250,000 a year”
BS. What he promised repeatedly was “not one dime.” He has kept that promise. He parsed it that way all the way through the campaign. He NEVER once said he wouldn’t raise taxes on anyone making under 250 thousand. He ALWAYS said, not one dime, not one thin dime.
Not ONE...but many, many. So technically, he told the absolute truth.
And he is doing the exact same thing with the not one thin dime healthcare bill.
The fruits of our labor did not belong to the English Aristocracy, it did not belong to the slave masters, it does not belong to the bureaucrats, it does not belong to the illegal aliens and it damn sure doesn’t belong to the U.S. Congress. I hope it doesn’t take another war to convince them.
