There's a pretty broad consensus for this type of social change across the political spectrum(including pubbies, but they won't tell you that). Planners have been advocating it since the 70's.

No, it's not. Any more than it has been "interesting" to see the direction California has gone in the last 30 years. 29 years ago, we were casting our Electoral College votes for President Reagan. Since then, it has been down hill all the way and I feel very sad to see what has happened to the state I grew up in and used to enjoy living in.
