Cong. Stupak (D) wants more assurances

During the POTUS' joint session of Congress speech, he addressed the issue of his Health Care plan funding abortions. He said: "Under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place."

Congressman Bart Stupak, (D-Mich) said he believes the bill would fund abortions and that he will refuse to vote for it unless he is allowed to offer an amendment banning abortion funding on the House floor.

Stupak said: "You're funding the public option; it will be part of the public option; and the Treasury will write checks to plans for abortion," ..... "That's a nonstarter for many of us. We need our amendment to be made in order and have our vote."

Cong. Stupak offered an amdt. to ban abortion funding during the Energy and Commerce Committee markup, in late July, when they were considering H.R. 3200. The amdt was defeated 30-28.

Once CommieCare is passed, the federal “judges” will make all of the necessary “corrections” such as eligibility for illegal aliens and taxpayer financed abortions. Never trust a ‘RAT!

I’ve never known Bart Stupak to vote against his party here in Michigan.
I may be wrong, but it would be very unusual for him.

Perhaps there will be no federal dollars used to pay for abortions *directly.* The taxpayer money will be used to subsidize premiums charged by the “nonprofit co-ops.” The co-ops will pay for the abortions.

The RATS will then say they cant stop private entities from offering services beyond the basic requirements.

I guess you could call this a money-laundering scheme.

I was just thinking what we need are ammendments that say:

1. This bill does not cover abortion and the entire law becomes null and void, if this provision is invalidated by the judiciary.

2. This bill does not cover illegal immigrants and the entire law becomes null and void, if this provision is invalidated by the judiciary.

3. If this bill adds to the deficit, it become null and void.

Even with these provisions, there still MUST be rationing, reductions in medicare spending and someone to decide which treatments are ok at what ages.

Yup! I believe that anytime the “courts” screw around (change) with anything done by the Congress (a bill) or by the people (a proposition), it should automatically become null and void and the process should be started all over again.

Bart Stupak is pro-life to the core. He is the only democrat I have voted for at every opportunity in the last 20 years. I have not lived in his district in over 15 years, but when I did I had the utmost respect for him!
