Yeah, I already feel like a turd for not being there. But I’ve taken a 10% pay cut this year, had my hours cut back quite a bit, and just had to pay for some major life event stuff that I’d rather not discuss. I probably won’t even have a job in a few months. It’s all I can do to keep it together. I wouldn’t care if I didn’t have family obligations, but I have to think of my duty to my family. I know, pretty pathetic compared to the sacrifices of the founders. If things get real bad and I have nothing to lose, that might be a different story...
I see it this way. Those in DC are “players”. We are their “cheering section”. If no one was watching and cheering, there’d be no reason to play/march. They represent us and cheer for them.
