What if there was a Military Coup and Clinton and company head it up. With the Republican Party in shambles, they are as likely as any to seek and regain power.

Not likely. The military remembers all too well how Kid Klintoon clearly stated how much he 'loathed' the military and believe you me, the military reciprocated (and continues to reciprocate) that sentiment.

There will be no Clinton-led or supported 'coup' whatsoever, take that to the bank (if your bank has not already failed, lol).

And IF there were such a development, it would not be a 'coup', it would be a RESTORATION of our Republic after the continuous rape of our Constitution over the past 8+ months.

Yeah, I get your point about Klintoon and the Military. I am a ex-Army vet who understands these things, but I don't think there will be a choice in the matter.

Let me expand that point a little.

If we were to have a constitutional crisis, a situation that we have come close to, but never fell off that cliff, the event would be political and not a democratic exercise where the military had to choose a leader. One would be picked for them and us.

Since the House and Senate are firmly in Democrat control, it would be the Democrats who would essentially void a election, not us. They would, I surmise, hold a parliamentary type vote similar to a no confidence measure that would dismantle the executive branch, they would temporarily set aside habeus and eliminate the judicial branch and effectively seize control, after which they may or may not use the VP as a temporary place holder, or just jump to the speaker of the House.

They then would schedule new elections, put forth a number of legal measures making what they did legal and schedule new elections. They would declare martial law during the interim until Habeus could be restored by the restoration of the government.(there is where your term comes in)

The military would be called on to help keep the peace and it is at this point where the choice for them arises. I see no reason why they would not comply with the arrangement as long as the government is restored in a timely manner.

Of course, anything could go wrong and we have no precedent for this.

The liberals love the parliamentary system as it seems to give the executive branch less power then they have now.

Congress is plumb full of wannabee presidents so was just doing a brain exercise to lay out a scenario that could happen but it's unlikely.

The Constitution gives us options for the death of a president or the loss of the entire executive branch by accident or whatever, but it does not say anything about a political crisis and the voiding of a bad election in the case of a dire situation where impeachment is too slow a process.

Just farting around with some fiction here because I am so disgusted and fearful of the future, both short and longer term.

I want to believe that the American public can make a mistake as they did, and find a way to rectify it before too much damage is done. On the other hand, It is pain and damage that teaches one not to make mistakes and perhaps that pain is required for institutional learning and making good on critical errors of judgment. Both the American public and it's watchdog media have made undeniable and perhaps fatal errors of judgment and perhaps the damage is going to be necessary for the future.

i just don't know. I can't know.

Not yet anyway.

I note for obvious reasons that the Democrats have a very real fear that this president's life may be in great danger, and that fear has to come from a realization that something is wrong. I believe that they just won't allow themselves to think it. I don''t think they are being honest with themselves. Not all but many. It looks like a Freudian thing to me.
