Eight years ago today, our homeland was attacked by fanatical Muslims inspired by Saudi Arabian bigotry. Three thousand American citizens and residents died.
We resolved that we, the People, would never forget. Then we forgot.
We've learned nothing.
Instead of cracking down on Islamist extremism, we've excused it.
Instead of killing terrorists, we free them.
Instead of relentlessly hunting Islamist madmen, we seek to appease them.
Instead of acknowledging that radical Islam is the problem, we elected a president who blames America, whose idea of freedom is the right for women to suffer in silence behind a veil -- and who counts among his mentors and friends those who damn our country or believe that our own government staged the tragedy of September 11, 2001. :
Peters's indictment is awfully broad. We've actually learned a lot, but President Obama seems bent on making us forget it. He is certainly guilty of several of the offenses Peters alleges.
"Instead of confronting Saudi hate-mongers, our president bows down to the Saudi king." Guilty.
"Instead of recognizing the Saudi-sponsored Wahhabi cult as the core of the problem, our president blames Israel." Guilty.
"Instead of taking every effective measure to cull information from terrorists, the current administration threatens CIA agents with prosecution for keeping us safe." Guilty.
Peters doesn't even mention what Obama insists on calling "the Islamic Republic of Iran" directly, but alludes to it in this piece of his indictment: "Instead of taking a firm stand against Islamist fanaticism, we've made a cult of negotiations -- as our enemies pursue nuclear weapons; sponsor terrorism; torture, imprison, rape and murder their own citizens -- and laugh at us." Guilty.
As if to put an exclamation point on these observations, President Obama and his Democratic allies have turned 9/11 into a day of (government-sponsored community volunteerism.)
Since passing the bill with the National Day of Service provision in April (Matthew Vadun explains) President Obama and his friends in the activist left have decided to transmogrify 9/11 into a celebration of recycling, solar panels and radical community organizing called Green the Block. And Green, as they say, is the new Red.
UPDATE: The New York Daily News publishes President Obama's column ("Every year on this day, we are all New Yokers.") Obama condemns, as is his wont, against "violent extremism." Obama explains "why we are marking this Sept. 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance." Why?
On this day, and every day, it is incumbent on each of us to uphold those ideals that our enemies were - and are - so eager to destroy.
To serve others and give back to our communities.
To respect our differences and to value what we share.
To remember that even when we disagree, and disagree strongly, that we are all Americans - that we are all striving to leave for our children a safer and more perfect union.
On this Sept. 11, as we reflect on this painful tragedy, let us also recommit ourselves to this historic task.
Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.
good post
I will calmly wait for the knee-jerking to start...
Instead of running extremist Muslims out of our country, we have allowed even more of them in to stay and allowed them to set up schools to teach their hate on our very soil.
We MUST begin to turn that around in a big way in 2010, and the complete the job in 2012.
And, with God's grace and blessings, we shall do so.

Rush said it earlier - How could Mr. Obama appear at the Pentagon, on this day, and NOT mention the military.
Mr. Obama is in deed a strange person.
He really does not like America. He’s ashamed of it.
After all, what event or comment can we point to that proves he loves the United States?
I think we need to acknowledge that “radical Islam” is redundant.
Your post is frankly a desecration to those who were slaughtered by religious fanatics.
Ain’t worth a twitch let alone a jerk.
“...He really does not like America. Hes ashamed of it...”
Anyone who does not love America enough to defend her has no business being President of the United States.
Ann Coulter was right: If you want to make a liberal angry, defend America.
Who said anything about citizens?
Obviously, anyone reporting for work daily at the twin towers had to be a resident. All else is useless detail; they are just as dead.
And the darling muslims did it.
