“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

Hey, Joe. Before you apologize, you should check your email. But that apology? Spoken like a true politician...don’t know whether I should hate you or admire you.

Mr. Wilson found a set of nads tonight and used them accordingly but then realized that they in fact were NOT HIS nads as he left his at home in a jar in South Carolina.

He apologized for this mistake and for using them in an inappropriate way tonight. He made it a point to return them to their rightful owner, Nancy Pelosi, as soon as the discrepancy was pointed out.

And just like that it's over.

I know, I’m dreaming, Miss Gidget7. But when I heard that “You lie” echoing throughout the chamber, I had a distinctly Civil-War-Shot-Heard-Round-The World vibe.

What can I say?

There’s nothing wrong with an apology (in fact, better done sooner than later) ... he got THE most important two words out during the speech ... no one will likely forget it either ... go Joe ... thanks for the passion ...

Exactly right. What will everyone be talking about tomorrow? Zero’s talking points or the heckler? Any bets?

"I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”"

Lack of civility? Look, when the President, The Speaker of the House and the Senate Leader completely freeze out ALL republicans from earnest, good-faith negotiations on this subject, and then lecture them about "ending the partisan rancor", exactly who isn't being civil?

Don't apologize, Joe. You have nothing to apologize for.

The apology really doesn't mean much.

The damage has been done. Those who watched Obozo tonight saw him called a liar from the floor of Congress. That video has already gone all over the world. Apology or not, this was big. Obozo got what he had coming. A little more shine went off his halo tonight.

Obama's speech to joint session - Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina calls out "Lie."

Check out the look on Pelosi's face - Priceless!

This should mark the end of ObamaCare.

I think the apology was appropriate and restrained.

We loved it, but probably not good taste during a presidential address, even one by this fraud.

“Screw you McCain.”

I can’t think of an opponent he could have that I wouldn’t vote for.

Patrick Henry was also carried away by emotion:

No one called him uncivil, nor did he apologize.

Glad he apologized, and that he did so promptly and sincerely. Most people would consider his outburst inappropriate. But his point has still been registered. Now the media needs to analyze whether what he said is true. Apparently whether the president lied depends on how clintonian your parsing of his statements is. It’s true that the House bill doesn’t explicitly extend coverage to illegals. But the catch is that it doesn’t require any proof of citizenship. In fact when the Republicans introduced an amendment to require proof, the Democrats shot it down. So what does that tell you.
