Ah, signed up TODAY in order to try to refute my posting.
Methinks you’re a lefty who got nervous about the truth being stated about your ideological mindset.
Methinks youre a lefty who got nervous about the truth being stated about your ideological mindset.”
You are right!!! No refuting the filth in the DU and the Kos mindset with this person,
Why are you trying to change the subject?
This isn’t about anyone’s ideological mindset except that of a pastor recommending the assasination of the president of the United States and whom you are defending with a couple of cherry-picked Bible verses.
If you want to use the Bible to justify the kind of appalling language you would not tolerate if it was used against a president you like, then you are what Jesus would call a hypocrite.
And if you’re going to accuse people of wanting to torture those with whom they disagree ideologically without having a shred of empirical data to support such an accusation, don’t be surprised when it’s suggested you may only be looking into a mirror.
The difference between you and me is not right vs. left, but fantasy vs. fact. This difference is clearly illustrated by your inability to provide any sort of substanctive data to back up what you say and resorting to ad hominem attacks.
Yep, my mother was right.
Too bad, trollboy... banned or suspended.
Yes, lefties DO want to use government to punish their ideological opponents. ALWAYS HAVE, ALWAYS WILL. With history (and current postings at liberal blogs) as my witness.
Is it the same God or a new God?
If Christ is God, then wouldn't all the teachings of God in the Old Testament be the teachings of Christ?
Did God change?
God in his infinite mercy forgives us our many failings, so there is no reason why He cannot forgive or bear with our sinful desires for blood and revenge. David was not perfect (viz bathsheba) so he might very well have prayed for death and destruction upon his enemies (and those he fondly believed were God’s enemies too). God, however, has a different take on the matter, as evinced to Jonah and his God-ordained missionary campaign to Ninevah (widely regarded by all right-thinking jews at the time as the fount of all evil).
As for Sodom and Gomorrah, the point about that story is that Abraham pleaded for the two cities, thus initiating a quantum leap in the quality of Human mercy, which is probably why God initiated the process in the first place.
God is in control of all things, and nothing happens without His purposing. Personally, I find that far more comforting than a world that was flooded, or a city that was destroyed, totally by blind chance.
God doesn’t change, but we (as in Mankind) do. Human history is a story of progression. It is, frankly, an uneven progression with lots of reverses over the centuries, but socially things have progressed. What God is doing is slowly bringing us to a more complete understanding of Himself and His will.
Consider. If your three year old punches his brother and steals his candy, you don’t give him a treatise on advanced ethics, true though all that would be. Not because it isnt right, but because said three-year old wouldnt understand it. You take more immediate, and less academic, action. When he grows up he can get a treatise on the rights of man
“We have popular vote in this nation to elect our leaders; no matter how repugnant they may be.”
I’m coming more and more to think that we do NOT have a “popular vote” anymore. I am beginning to think that our elections are rigged.
When I read about the U.S. Justice Department prohibiting the State of Georgia from proving the citizenship of voters, I think more and more that there is rigging going on, too.
When I read about ACORNS crimes, I think our elections are as rigged as those in South America.
And it ought to be very clear by now that our open borders policy is designed to fill the voting booths with people who come from countries where people have learned absolute dependence on government and a police states from their youth so that they will vote for a police state here. I call that strategic vote rigging and election fraud.
Mt prayer . . . quite literally:
Heavenly Father,
You know that the nation which has been the greatest Christian missionary base in the history of the Church is now under great satanic attack from people who hate Your Word and its precepts, and that these have now ascended to the leadership of our nation — including a very wicked man usurping the office of the presidency; a man who has placed around him people with anti-Christ and murderous contempt for your standards.
It would be our desire, Father, that such people repent and come to the knowledge of the truth, experience regeneration by faith in the Cross of Christ, and begin to obey your Word in Romans ch. 13, NOT to be a terror to good works, but to praise the Righteous, to be ministers of Thee to us for good.
Lord, we confess that a big part of the problem is a spiritually lethargic, worldly, Bible-ignorant and selfish Church, many members of which aided the enemy by voting for the wicked, or by failure to stand for the truth where they could have stood. Father, WAKE UP YOUR CHURCH, we humbly plead, to righteousness.
And Father, for the sake our children and grand children, if the wicked at the leadership of our nation will not heed your Word nor repent, we plead with you to REMOVE them by ANY MEANS NECESSARY before more damage is done. We cry out for the sake of our children and our children’s children to FRUSTRATE their purposes and bring to light what these people are in such away that every American can clearly see their hatred of Thee and Thy Word.
Father, for the sake of American families who have endeavored and do endeavor to raise our families according to Biblical principles, please protect us from what appears to be a coming anti-Christ Marxist police state, where we will have no power to remove the wicked in free elections.
BY WHATEVER MEANS NECESSARY, Lord, topple this regime, we beg and implore, and allow freedom to continue. Help us to use our freedom to HONOR YOU and YOUR SON JESUS CHRIST, to rebuild a missionary nation, and to take His Gospel from these shores around the world for THINE OWN GLORY. Cause us to turn our hearts and our attentions back to the Crucified One, the Risen One, the Ascended One, the Saving ONE, in such a way that men will once again see that JESUS CHRIST is that ONE; the WAY the TRUTH; the LIFE.
BY YOUR OWN POWER AND MEANS, Lord, remove Mr. Obama and all of the wicked with which he as surrounded himself. Remove the wicked in Congress and once again fill that body with people who have respect for the Christian history and heritage of our dear land, and who will respect Your work through Your people, and will respect Christian families and Churches.
In these requests, may you, Heavenly Father, receive all the Glory due your Holiness and Uprightness, understanding that Thy Son, Thy Lamb solely and entirely deserves the fruit and reward of His sufferings in the salvatin of the lost. We humbly ask these things in Jesus’ Lovely Name.
Amen
Fortunately, God has more mercy than we do.
Really? Has human nature changed since the fall of Adam? Do you believe in Adam?
It is, frankly, an uneven progression with lots of reverses over the centuries, but socially things have progressed.
Have you been to Africa or the Middle East? How about Pakistan or Iran? Are they improving socially? In the last century over 100 million people were murdered by tyrants and governments in Christian nations such as Russia and Germany. Was that an improvement over the previous century? You think this century is going to be any better?
What God is doing is slowly bringing us to a more complete understanding of Himself and His will.
There are less and less Christians every year. We are moving towards an Islamic takeover of post-Christian Europe which will be followed by an Islamic takeover of post-Christian Canada. Are you suggesting that maybe "Allah" is God? Or are you just engaging in wishful speculation?
Human nature doesn’t change, as in we cannot change it ourselves. But, if we allow God to work through us, then we can progress as individuals, and through our subsequent actions, affect an ever-widening circle of people, which eventually reaches the whole of society.
100 million people murdered by tyrants and Governments in Christian nations? Surely that is an inditement of tyrants and governments, not Christians. Christians have never claimed to be any better than anyone else. The only thing I have going for me is a savior. So if you say “oh Christian countries have murdered x number of people” as some kind of clinching argument - well, hands up, straightaway, guilty as charged. But then, what is a Christian nation anyway? I think you mean a nation where a majority of the population espouse Christianity, but as a minority of people even in the US attend church every Sunday, that doesn’t really mean very much. Christianity is not some kind of social club, or cultural allegiance fraternity (or at least it shouldnt ONLY be that). Christianity is ultimately something that you do (more accurately, its something you respond to).
The light of Christ is dim over the middle east at the moment, and so their societies have darkened, but I still say that where the light of Christ has shone, Humanity has progressed. The western world has given up on slavery. It has adopted the rule of law, rather than the rule of force. It has due process, it has security, it affords its citizens rights instead of just responisibilities. The bleak side of Human affairs seems more prominent because it gets all the publicity.
I would suggest you are indulging in speculation yourself my friend. No one but God above knows how many people are or are becoming Christians, because only He can see inside men’s hearts and souls. What we are seeing is not a post-christian society, but a post-christendom society, and its not altogether clear that Christendom was all that good a thing anyway. As you implied, tying faith to politics is always a bit dicey (as witness Islamists today).
I do not believe that Islam will be ultimately triumphant. It’s a matter of faith you see :)
God’s mercy is based on the sacrifice of Christ at Calvary, where God showed NO mercy to His own Son, but instead poured out on Him unmitigated wrath for the sins of the whole world. Because the Father did not show mercy there, He is free to show mercy to underserving sinners.
We pray for God’s mercy on our nation, on our families, on our children and grandchildren. We would like to see God’s mercy on EVEN Obama, but Obama must believe the Truth of Christ’s sufferings in order to benefit from God’s mercy in redemption.
Short of Obama coming to Christ, he remains an enemy to all that is holy, good, and right in our nation. We don’t coddle enemies.
That holds true if you believe exclusively in the atonement nature of what happened on Calvary, but by your argument that would hold true for everyone who was not “in Christ”, for all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory, and those who have not accepted His redemption cannot even count on his mercy. Are they all enemies to be “smitten hip and thigh”?
