Care to document that charge?
Frankly, I sympathize with Whitman here. When Jones first crossed my radar, I rather liked what I read of him and found his story and “green jobs” initiative to be intriguing and noteworthy. He seemed like one of Obama’s better appointments.
But you can’t escape a loudmouthed, racist record like his. Yes: racist. If a statement is racist when it says “black,” it’s racist when it says “white.” Example: “Because they don’t have a racial justice frame ... white polluters steered poison into minority communities.” Racist. That, by the way, was from 2008, a tad inconvenient for White House spin-slingers who are trying to claim he’s all grown up now and no longer holds those long-ago views.
fair enough.
See Campaign-Finance Reform (from Senate Centrist Coalition - the place where all conservatives go).
Parts of it are now before the Supreme Court (broadcasting a document about Hillary was denied because of CFR). I pray SC overturns it - but as the law stands now it is illegal to air that sort (non-liberal) stuff on TV before elections. You know who to thank for that law..
It is always fun to see them play isn’t it...
Don't blow you wad all at once man...
Stay under the radar, you have to stay around here for you to be any fun for us...
The CFR stuff (both of them) is good though, your forbears here loved to trot those out...
It is good she didn't let this go too long without having addressed it head on!
*snort*
This is what Fred had to say about CFR in 9/07:
“If there is anything in McCain-Feingold that “has not worked out,” he went to say, it is “placing limitations on ads [by independent groups] in the [political] process. Thompson hinted that he would support legislation to change this, since “the Supreme Court has better things to do with its time than hear cases on unfair limitation.”

Don't want to start a flair up, could become an epidemic, and we just got the last one under control for the most part...
Or “Levi Johnston, he’s a good kid who’s trying to do right” vs “Levi JOhnston, left-wing backstabber”.
See, it works even if it’s the same person.
Meg Whitman is, however, a rather liberal Republican, who probably would support some of Van’s positions. She obviously liked his lef-wing environmentalism.
She may be the best California can do; at least she understands business.
I have no idea what other crazy things the poster is saying, but there were a few quite conservative people here at FR who did reject Fred Thompson because of his key work getting the unconstitutional Campaign Finance Reform bill passed.
Some of them backed off when Thompson made suggestions he might try to repeal some of the more onerous parts of that bill. It’s OK sometimes to be wrong, if you support the right thing later.
But it is indicative of how we tend to forgive those we love, and chastise those we dislike, often for the same sins.
Well, the media completely ignores this type of thing when it’s from the left. So she very well could have had no knowledge of who he really was.
After all, if you didn’t think to research him, and you just met him in a meeting, you might thing William Ayers was a good American, because he is so “accepted” into the mainstream of thought by the establishment.
But she was praising him for his environmentalism, which she should know better, so she won’t get a pass for that.
If the sins were the same...
Oh never mind...
I’m not sure why anybody is attacking Fred Thompson any more anyway. It’s not like he is even hinting at running for any office.
But he was instrumental in CFR, and that did cause some heartburn here at FR, and not just among people who wanted to make McCain look less onerous, or supported ROmney, Giuliani, or Huckabee.
The Duncan Hunter supporters were all over the CFR argument. However, the statement sited from Fred did take a lot of wind out of those sails, because people wanted to support Fred, and were looking for some sign that he had changed his position on CFR.
The problem being that CFR was one of the big things we used to attack McCain, so when Fred came along, it caused trouble.
This is an example of why it is important to judge a candidate over a wide range of issues, because almost no candidate will be universally acceptable, and most will have at least one thing you loathe.
She wants to get elected. I hope CA is smarter and sends her down the RINO hole.
No, they don’t sound the same. It’s just that a few people posted responses suggesting that there was no basis whatsoever to the charge.
The truth is rarely as clean as people remember it, or argue it on the internet. Real people have warts, and we often only remember the airbrushed pictures.
And I'm sure she would never go after her opponent if her opponent did the same thing as her. I don't know if she's a RINO green-warrior, but it seems that at the least she wants the green-justice vote.
Maybe she'll figure out that the green-justice people are nothing more than communists using the environment as a way to destroy this nation. She strikes me as too dim to figure that out though.
