Is this normal practice at the WH? Do other countries hoist their flags too? Or is the Chinese flag being treated differently? If it’s a normal practice (as long as it’s NOT higher than the gool ol’ Stars and Stripes) as part of diplomatic meetings, then fine. If not, then this needs to be stopped before it happens!

Anyone on free republic who knows the flag protocol at the WH?

I can't say that I know the WH flag protocol. But, I was at the ceremony when Hu Jintao visited the in the spring of 2006. There were Chinese flags in several locations, both on the WH grounds and in the WH itself. But, I don't remember anything other than Old Glory flying above the WH, FWIW.
