White House Withdraws Call for Students to 'Help' Obama
FoxNews ^ | September 03, 2009

President Obama's plan to inspire the nation's schoolchildren with a video address next week erupted into controversy Wednesday, forcing the White House to pull out its eraser and rewrite a government recommendation that teachers nationwide assign students a paper on how to "help the president," the Washington Times reported.

Presidential aides acknowledged the White House helped the U.S. Education Department craft the proposal, which immediately was met by fierce criticism from Republicans and conservative organizations who accused Obama of trying to politicize the education system.

White House aides said the language was an honest misunderstanding in what was supposed to be a inspirational, pro-education message to America's youths.

A woman called into the Chris Baker show today and said that her daughter is being shown television shows every day in school about obama. At least once a day they miss one class or another to gather all of the children up and watch some television show or another about obama. Think about what parents don’t know or aren’t told about in their children’s lesson plans and daily school activities...

I don’t think most of us would have a problem with a President addressing the nations school children at the beginning of the year, and talk about how great this nation is, and how much better it can be if they study hard, challenge them selves in school, at home, in their place of worship, and in the community. And most important stay in school. A Bill Cosby type of message.

But that is not what Obama had in mine. He is taking this address to our children straight from Sauk Alinsky’s book. Get the children on our side, divide them from their parents conservatism early, and most important show these little on the news . The Aaawwwww factor is a very powerful tool.

“”all the things since the health care debate, they have not given much resistance and backed off easily.””

He was backing off subjects before the health care debate. Don’t ask me to name them as they are too numerous and how in the heck can anyone keep track of what these bozos are up to?

Good news for the nation’s school children...they won’t be so blatantly exposed to the propaganda that was planned. Propaganda will still be with us - just not in the same manner.

"Seemingly the only outcry is from conservatives."

Only because the liberals and those thinking like them are huge proponents of the affirmative action laws and back the public school indoctrination program. They have been "given" everything and now feel that their children are "entitled" to the same without having to work for any of it.

Any person with a brain and common sense can see what is happening, the liberals are like plow horses with blinders on, only focused on the task at hand which is the destruction of the American way of life.

Exactly. There is a video recommended by the Education Dept. to be part of the teacher's presentation, done by Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, that attempts to sell bedrock liberal tenets to the kids. It is absolutely sickening, and it proves your point.

My problem with the whole thing is that the program is being done with "stimulus" money. In the video the kids are exhorted to "consume less", this message brought to you by "stimulus" money. They act as if the private sector just doesn't exist.

Ahhh as another day begins I wake to read of Obamas failures, I derive such great pleasure from this.

Look at it this way, would you encourage your children to listen and follow an admitted illegal drug abuser?

Hey BO, you know what education they got - that their commie prez put them in debt for life before they got our of school! How 'inspirational' is that?

Right you are! A freeper posted this on another site that explains it all.

"Brainwashing is a system of befogging the brain so a person can be seduced into acceptance of what otherwise would be abhorrent to him. He loses touch with reality. Facts and fancy whirl round and change places.... However, in order to prevent people from recognizing the inherent evils in brainwashing, the Reds pretend that it is only another name for something already very familiar and of unquestioned respect, such as education or reform." My wife complains about the expense of parochial school when we can send him to public school. I called his school today and they had no idea about a nationwide school event on Sept 8, saying we are a parochial school and do not follow the curriculum of the public schools. That alone justifies the expense of parochial school. It does my heart good when my son comes home from school and says they learned about Jesus and not about 0bama.

A “misunderstanding” is when you get your hammer and sickle caught in the cookie jar.

It pays to check even with private schools, on these things. I have emailed my daughter’s principal, at her private school, to ask about it, as well. All 3 of mine have gone to Catholic schools, they are not immune from leftleaning teachers and administrators, unfortunately.

I agree. There is something so blatantly “in your face” about this speech to our nation’s schoolkids. The administration HAD to know it would cause a ruckus. A distraction maybe? Glenn Beck reminds us often about “watching what this hand is doing- not the other hand.”

I saw the video of Hollywood actors pledging to support Obama. Like them, I too want to end slavery.

Of course, my great-grandfather already risked is life in combat and did that nearly a hundred years before I was born.

Or maybe the Hollywood folks want to take up arms and invade the Arab countries that still practice slavery...

Honest misunderstanding = misspoke = lying his a** off. Hope that clarifies it for you. Telling kids to pledge to be a SERVANT to Bozo isn't a lie, it is the truth and yes, he honestly wants to indoctrinate out children so they will grow up to good little communists.

Notice 0 never owns up to screwing something up. It’s always that he “misspoke,” “misread,” or someone “misunderstood.”

For a guy with all that vaunted “brilliance,” one would think all his “mis”-ses wouldn’t be so frequent.
