That's such BS. Your body tells you when you need to drink with this thing called thirst.

That's when your body tells you that it's already dehydrated, actually.

And is a longer life spent mostly urinating really worth the effort?

There are times when a good pee is a very fine thing, indeed.

I read once that a good way to determine if you are drinking the right amount of liquids is by the color of your urine. If dark red, not enough. If clear, too much. So a light yellowish color then is what to aim for (besides the center of the bowl, i mean).
