‘Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...’ I do not believe the word church is included in that amendment.
It wasn't ALL religions, rather, only Christian based religions.
This particular amendment had to do with the concerns raised by two different christian denominations.
