While the state of Michigan has the highest unemployment rate of any state in the nation, the city of Detroit leads the way for cities. For the month of July, the unemployment rate in Detroit stood at a staggering 28.9% — and that’s probably undercounted in the same way all unemployment figures are due to the way such rates are measured. Still, it’s the highest rate on record for Detroit.

It is really sad that the Detroit unemployment rate is higher than the graduation rate.

I’ve had personal dealings with Dave Bing. Without Ford he would be ridiculed as the idiotic business man he is. Ford bailed his arse out over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

They bailed him out so much, he should have a blue oval tattoed on his forehead!

He is a nice fellow tho’.

So he was wrong to fire 50 worthless bus drivers and Detroit should go back to a Kwameeocracy?

(The GOP isn’t going to win in detroit period)

Not at all. I should have added that I think he is doing a fine job so far as the mayor of Detroit. I just get sick of hearing that he was some great businessman.

I agree that he is as good as it is going to get in that office.

What would be interesting to me is how exactly they count people who’ve lost unemployment but are looking for work. How does the government know someone is “looking” for work? Or have “given up looking” for work?

My question exactly!

Yeah I don’t have any idea about his business sense but I’m glad detroit has taken a step in the right direction.

I listen to morning drive-time radio out of Detroit.

The police just cleared out a TENT CITY in Ann Arbor. Check it out on Google news.

Last time I heard of a tent city was during the great depression.

It’s not a tent city, it’s an Obamaville
