Ping!

What a great article! I have NEVER heard of such a thing in Hawaii. Now that I know that’s how they treat white people, I will NEVER go there to visit...though it has long been a dream of mine to do so.

I wonder why we don’t just hand them over to the Japanese or any other future power, like the Chinese. Let them experience REAL racism.

Sure. If they want to seccede, fine. It can set the precedent for the rest of us. :) (Only joking, government monitors, I’m only joking....)

Let them leave; we’ll get rid of two left-liberal Democrat senators and two left-liberal Democrat representatives and the nativists end up with no one to provide for their external defense. They’ll end up in the tender mercies of the PRC or some other wonderful exploitive nation.

I grew up in Hawaii, and this is an unfair assessment. Is their racism? Sure. Are Whites targeted? Sure. But so are Blacks, Hispanics, and anyone other than the Asian or Pacific Islander group that one doesn't belong to. The incidents are mainly between high school kids. I could tell you stories. The last day of school has long been unofficially designated "Beat Haole Day," I have never heard of "Beat Haole Day". What's the source? There are thousands of tourist who visit Hawaii every day without incident. I lived there for 5 1/2 years and only experienced one incident, but can tell about two others. My sister and I rode the bus all over Waikiki without fear. Shame on the fear monger. This is the same nonsense that I was given before going to NY. Yet the people were very helpful and kind. Aloha!

Very much so.

Might be interesting to see the bias between the three groups as I’m sure exists.

If it hadn’t been for the immense sacrifice made by hundreds of thousands of those ‘hoales’, these arseh0les would all be speaking Japanese today - and a Japanese government would NOT tolerate their odious bullcrap.

Have the Navy move back to San Diego. Maybe they’ll like the Chinese as masters.

For background, Hawaii is the only state in the Union that still has segregated schools. (You have to be Hawaiian to attend Kamehameha Schools, which is the wealthiest school in the United States.) The State government also has an agency which provides money and services just to Native Hawaiians: the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. There are dozens of legal benefits that are only granted to Native Hawaiians. They also can get discounts in many stores by showing a card that indicates they have Native Hawaiian blood. They also get government preference for being provided free longterm leaseholds of public land under the Hawaiian Homelands Act.

Until the practice was struck down a few years ago by the U.S. Supreme Court in Rice v. Cayetano, Hawaii also had racially segregated elections in which only Native Hawaiians could vote and where only Native Hawaiians could hold certain elected offices.

When I lived there I had no problems with the Japanese. The racism in high school was that every group had problems with those outside of their group. Very insular. And that wasn’t just the Asians. It was the Pacific Islanders too.

This is nothing new. I was stationed there for three years at Kaneohe Bay. If you are not a native Hawaiian they don’t want you there, except for your money of course. The pidgin word (their pig latin language of screwed up English) for whites is hawley. I’m surprised they said get your white ass off the beach. I would have thought they would say get your hawley ass off the beach...

I go there lots. The anti haole bigotry is palpable though not universal. I say if the Hawaiians don’t like it there they can go back to the Marquesas where they came from.

“BTW, Since when does the Southern Poverty Law Center care about White people?”

Exactly, I find it amazing that it’s gotten so bad even the SPLC sits us and takes notice.

In truth, however, Native Hawaiians are basically like the supposed stereotypical racist “Southern Redneck.” Other than the colors being reversed, the behavior is the same. A feeling that all problems are due to the other race, a feeling of entitlement that has been taken away by whites, etc.

How ya going to stop the Japs from vacationing there too?

Tell them to go to Cheju, South Korea (which is truly gorgeous), Saipan or Guam instead!

Take that dream to Saipan or Guam instead. Even Cheju South Korea! All those places are just as beautiful as Hawaii, if not more beautiful and they actually are good, warm hearted people grateful for the tourist money!

It was certainly present when I was stationed there in the mid 70’s.
