Obama vs. Honduran Democracy
Wall Street Journal ^ | August 30, 2009 | Mary O'Grady

Posted on 08/30/2009 5:09:01 PM PDT by don-o

If the Obama administration were a flotilla of ships, it might be sending out an SOS right about now. ObamaCare has hit the political equivalent of an iceberg. And last week the president’s international prestige was broadsided by the Scots, who set free the Lockerbie bomber without the least consideration of American concerns. Mr. Obama’s campaign promise of restoring common sense to budget management is sleeping with the fishes.

This administration needs a win. Or more accurately, it can't bear another loss right now. Most especially it can't afford to be defeated by the government of a puny Central American country that doesn't seem to know its place in the world and dares to defy the imperial orders of Uncle Sam.

I'm referring, of course, to Honduras, which despite two months of intense pressure from Washington is still refusing to reinstate Manuel Zelaya, its deposed president. Last week the administration took off the gloves and sent a message that it would use everything it has to break the neck of the Honduran democracy. Its bullying might work. But it will never be able to brag about what it has done.

who set free the Lockerbie bomber without the least consideration of American concerns.

I don't believe that. The operation was most likely cleared in Washington- may have been instigated there.

"This administration needs a win."

Maybe they should try being on the right side of the issue.

Remember that film, "Do The Right Thing"?

How can obama possibly back the deposed Honduran President? He (Zelaya) was attempting to remain President (illegally) past Honduras' constitutional term limits. Hmm, an illegal Presidency...no wonder obama identifies with him and is trying to help.

Seriously, Zelaya doesn't have a leg to stand on, and neither does obama on this.

Bananas and coffee are Honduras’ principle exports.

I don’t know which brands are from the country.

Remember that the American Democrat party has long been the enemy of democrats around the world. Or perhaps far more loyal to leftism than to democracy. For years they called communist insurrectionists “agrarian reformers”, and when they took over and brutalized some poor nation, the Democrats would forget about that barbarity and instead focus on the next batch of “agrarian reforms”, who were butchering helpless peasants for “the cause”.

What could possibly motivate Democrats to *always* embrace tyranny and viciousness? Why do they so *hate* poor, oppressed people? What deity in the blood drenched philosophy demands human sacrifice?

They not only support such tyranny, but they bitterly oppose those who try to thwart it, or end it. Why do Democrats always choose the path of evil?

Like Limbaugh said, "I want him to fail."

Let this be a lesson to ALL patriots ousting a would-be dictator: kill him and be done with it.

Leftists loudly proclaim their philosophy of "non-interventionism" and "self-determination" - that is until they smell the stink of the possibility of intervening in order to prop up a Commie. When that happens, intervention becomes the order of the day and self-determination gets thrown out of the window.

In other words, leftists are liars...

aAdd me to the ping list and let me know how I can help Mis Hermanos.

I just emailed my Senators in VA and my representative:

I am appalled to read that Hondurans will be denied US Visas! Their Supreme Court and Congress legally removes their president for attempting to override their constitution and this is the US response? Please help reverse this decision!

I wish I could do more!

Anybody going to DC on 9/12 should bring signs supporting Honduras.

This is outrageous and just proves that we the people have voted in a Socialist Government.
