Letters work. Here in Tennessee in 2000 we had a FreeRepublic based set of pro-life letters which were written to fit 'letters to the editor' format ... most newspapers will not use somehting larger than 300 words under letter to the editor.

I think there were five letters. Several Freepers--and me--sent these to newspapers in Tennessee and ended up have them published in Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville, Bristol, and Johnson City.

Al Goreghoul couldn't even carry Tennessee in 2000! His flip flop on life issues tainted him with conservative Tennesseeans who might not have voted except to prevent him from becoming the President.

Letters work. Letters to newspapers work beacuse it is the readership who buy the papers so the papers have an incentive to publish readership opinions.
