Replace 'UAW' with 'NEA' and 'producing autos' with 'teaching kids' -- still true.
I’m not as sure about that as the number of public school teachers is incresing, not decreasing (as in the case of auto workers). But I would agree that pay and benefits are paramount to the NEA above all else.
My point is that the UAW has squeezed auto companies to the point where their active membership is going down. In short, they are killing themselves slowly.
