Don't. I have tried it and it's just not for me. I admit it. I make a crumby sponsor. Maybe someday - but not for now.
Actually I think it's because I had a young (in AA) sponsor at the beginning and then had a horrible experience trying to pick a new one after the first one moved away. It was some old guy that turned out to be trying to 13th step me. He, and a bunch of his acolytes, were "woman haters" and, I think, a clique of gays.
KAK! That’s exactly it. So many creepy sponsor-types. I just don’t fit in very well in those circles. It’s not that I’m better than the people that stay in meetings for decades, but I’m back to being too busy. Maybe I should go, though, and wear my 8.5 years like a badge, and act like I know something the newcomers don’t.
