Labor Leader Named Head of New York Fed
WSJ ^ | Aug 25, 2009 | JON HILSENRATH

Posted on 08/24/2009 7:57:15 PM PDT by RDTF

The Federal Reserve chose a labor leader to succeed a former Goldman Sachs executive as the chairman of the Federal Reserve Board of New York's private-sector board of directors.

Columbia University President Lee Bollinger, shown in July, was named deputy chairman of the New York Fed. Denis Hughes, president of the New York state branch of the AFL-CIO, had been serving as acting chairman of the New York Fed board since May, when Stephen Friedman stepped down from the position.

Mr. Friedman, a former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. chairman and adviser to President George W. Bush, had faced questions about his purchases of Goldman stock while serving on the New York Fed's board.

The end is near, is it not?

They must feel very confident in making all the moves they are making.

I just wonder if they haven't jumped the gun.

I mean, they thought they had the Health Reform thing in the bag, and that went off on a tangent they hadn't foreseen or planned on.

Word is getting out on the desecration of 9/11. I'm sure they thought they had it snuck in comfortably. It has the potential to ignite enormous backlash.

At some point, the enduring daily gratuitous insults to anything and everything that purports to be “American” can really only endure so long.

The proposed “investigation” of CIA “abuses” is sure to spark a furor, and will most certainly cause the military establishment to pause, wondering if they won't be victims of an Obama putsch.

And on and on...

We're all waiting for them to show their gonads and try and grab the guns. All this other stuff is just part of the softening up period.

Bad times are coming, my FRiend.

CA....

Yea, well when and if they try that I wish them luck because they sure as hell are gonna need it.

From what I can tell, Columbia is the neo-Marxist capital of academe. Which is really saying something, when you look at the political bent of academe. They give up nothing to, say, Cornell.

Bottom line:

A man who has spent his life trying to tear down American business will now have effective veto power over its money supply.

With the “Green Czar” having control over business being an admitted Maoist Marxist, the man running 9/11 Memorials an outspoken friend of Al Quida, and the “Diversity Czar” at the FCC committed to destroying Talk Radio and Internet sites such as FR, the rate of Obama’s attempted destruction of America is not slowing, it is accelerating!

The dots are everywhere...so many, so variously placed it becomes impossible to SEE the Big Picture.

LOL. I don't understand what you're trying to do.

Here's a link back to the original article. I don't have a subscription or anything.

is it me or is there quite an absence of fanfare, even of the average level of media noise, surrounding this important appointment?

The New York Fed was the center of the universe a year or so ago, and launched Tim Geithner into the Big Time.

The link you provided in post 26 goes to another article on FR, not my original link. The original link is still good at WSJ -but now asks for a subscriber, even if you link to it from Drudge. Thanks for the new link.

If I ever had any question about all of this being intentional, this has eradicated them.

Bio here:

http://www.nysaflcio.org/?zone=view_page.cfm&page=Officers

He has been on the board of the NY Fed since January 2003.

He is also a commissioner on the NY State Insurance Fund.

All while serving as union boss.

Amazing. SarbOx put all kinds of conflict of interest rules on corporate boards, but even though the Federal Reserve banks are independent entities, they can have all kinds of conflicts of interest on their boards.

And silly me, I always assumed to be on the board of a Federal Reserve Bank you were expected to have a PhD in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.

There should be arrests of these fools once we kick them out.
