We did something different on Fox News Sunday today. Instead of discussing the week's news--we brought something up that I suspect most people have never heard about.
It is a 51-page end-of-life counseling book the Department of Veterans Affairs is now using--called "Your Life, Your Choices." I learned about it on Wednesday--in an article in the Wall Street Journal--under the title "Death Book for Veterans."

Death Book, Death Panel, basically the same thing. Sarah Palin even posted this book on her facebook page for everyone to read a few days ago. I’m glad more people are being made aware of this
Under ObamaCare it would be available to all of us from the GPO by simply sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Pueblo, Colorado. It would be your duty as a loyal citizen to get it, read it and understand it.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg for the coming obamacare — you will NOT have a choice, THEY will tell you whether your life is worth living — you are in a wheelchair, DIE. Do you need antibiotics? DIE, you don’t deserve them.(page 37 actually lists antibiotics for you to decide whether or not you want them.)
Page 21 is a worksheet in which the veteran is asked to consider various situations and then check--whether in each case, life would be "difficult, but acceptable"--"worth living, but just barely"--or "not worth living."
...the scenarios...include: "I can no longer walk but get around in a wheelchair"--"I live in a nursing home"--"I am a severe financial burden on my family"--and "I cannot seem to 'shake the blues'".
They want to foist this thinking, these Dr. Mengele principles off on all of America. They are starting with the Vets and will move directly to the Sr. citizens in this country.
Here's how the chief architect of the plan, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel words it...
"Ultimately, the complete lives system does not create 'classes of Untermenschen whose lives and well being are deemed not worth spending money on,' but rather empowers us to decide fairly whom to save..."
"When implemented, the complete lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most substantial chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated"
"Services that promote the continuation of the polity-those that ensure healthy future generations, ensure development of practical reasoning skills, and ensure full and active participation by citizens in public deliberations-are to be socially guaranteed as basic. Conversely, services provided to individuals who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens are not basic and should not be guaranteed."
But all is not lost. Because health care effects every one, and because the American people intrinsically know that government bureaucracy makes them less efficient, the American people are downloading the Dem Health Care Plan HERE and elsewhere and educating themselves.
They are also reading the cited quotes of the main architect of the plan and Chief Advisor to Obama on Health Care HERE and elsewhere, and seeing the context of the plan from the designer of it.
There are some issues, some particularly fundemental issues, where if someone is calling for fundamentally changing them or destroying them, that you cannot keep quiet about because they impact you directly. The agent of change (in this case Obama himself and the Congress), must hear, see, and feel the passion that is opposing him.
So it is, more and more with Obama, and particularly over Health Care which has blown the lid off and awakened America to the type of person now sitting in the White House and those abetting him in Congress.
The slumbering giant is stirring...and he's waking up hopping mad.
Keep spreading the word...the more people who discover the facts about the Health Care monstrosity, the lower his numbers will go...and the more who will really start taking a harder look at his other initiatives (stimulus, bail-outs, take overs, Cap & Trade, FOCA, etc.) all of which are equally destructive to America.

I think this policy disaster started in the Clinton era, was then halted by the Bush admin, then reinstated by the Obama admin.

I keep three teenage sons around the house and they treat me like a cretin. I have to make an appointment to get anything out of my crack three-man IP team and then beg and plead in a most undignified manner.

Prologue: Throwing Tammy Duckworth Under The Bus [Jonah Goldberg]
I just watched Tammy Duckworth try her best to defend the VA “death book” on Fox News Sunday. The Iraq war veteran was severely wounded as an army aviator, losing both her legs, and is currently an Assistant Secretary at the VA. The administration sent her out to defend the book and to push back against Jim Towey, who first raised the issue. While she admirably held her own, her talking points were often very, very lame (she kept insinuating that Towey’s bitter his $5 book isn’t free of charge to vets). The upshot was she defended this irretrievably gross book on the merits and attacked the messenger to boot. And here’s the thing, the death book is doomed, doomed. It’s obvious Obama will pull the thing, because it’s the right thing to do and because it’s a political no-brainer while he’s trying to shake off the “death panel” albatross. So they sent out Duckworth to stake a position that will be reversed, making her look like a fool. Just give it time.

I wondered why my last VA clinic appointment a few weeks ago I was asked (for the 1st time ever) if I wanted living will and DNR literature. I said no, but looking back since I am turning 60 next month and 100% service connected disabled, I am glad they did not trot out that booklet.
