I don’t know. The drop mostly came from his own party, which possibly is a result of him flip-flop on the ‘public option’ issue. In other words, these people strongly disapproved 0bama because in their view he was not leftist enough.
I would attribute a portion of it to loss of confidence from members of his own party, but he's losing bady from the Indies as well. I have a hard time imagining his own party would be so quick to toss him under the bus.
I think you are right. The drop in "Strongly Approve" column has been very fast and, IMHO, will not hold. The Radical Lefties will never abandon Obama. I expect the number will return to the 30% plus/minus 1% within a few day. But of course I hope I'm wrong.

I think you’re right. People here cannot be deluded into thinking that the majority of the population is waking up. Half of us Americans are dedicated Socialists.
We need him to succeed. We need him to get everything he asks for. Then, when it all falls apart, many on the left will finally wake up and see that their Socialist Utopia is really a nightmare. As long as they’re denied the reality of Socialism, they’ll hang onto their delusions.
That’s true. However, the same thing could have been said about Bush’s numbers.
An analogous phenomenon afflicted Bush. Many conservatives and libertarians strongly disapproved of some (certainly not all) of this policies.
