Interestingly, I’ve noticed a huge similarity between the Obambas and several entry-level managers I dealt with back in the days when affirmative action was new to the world of work. These folks had a very firm mindset about what “white folks do” in management and they imitated that false idea. i.e. they just sat at an empty desk and ‘looked managerial’. They didn’t think they had to actually DO anything.
I have the impression that the Obamas have a fantasy idea of how “rich white ‘leaders’ behave (travel, huge entourages, lots of servants, etc) and they are playing out that fantasy idea because they have no actual experience of being classy people.
I agree, he is either pretending to know what the dickens he is doing and how he is to behave or his arrogance is beyond anything I have ever seen.
Michelle isn’t as good of an actor as the nose in the air husband of hers but she seems to be enjoying the tour of the world pretty well herself. Grandma, the girls, most likely Michelle’s extended family and half of Hyde Park is probably along for the ride. Yep, were in a recession and Obama is spending like an idiot teenager who found his dad’s credit card and can only think, now I can get whatever I want.
