The largest killer of animals in the US is the shelter system... No kidding, in an eight year period, a shelter for Corinth, Mississippi (a town of 12K), euthanized between 15,000 and 20,000 animals. The problem is irresponsible animal owners and a legal system and set of laws that encourages irresponsible pet ownership.

Really? About 2 BILLION chickens are killed every year. Shelters kill more than this?
