I always, always enjoy your comments and the entertaining closings.
On the question of Obama's eligibility, I don't think we'll ever know, for sure, the right line of argument as a practical matter. But I'm firmly of the opinion that the founders did not intend for a person born and held (another way of saying "raised") a dual citizen to be eligible to hold the office of the president.
As far as I'm concerned, on the public record alone, Obama is/was not eligible, and Congress was derelict in not confronting the question.

And if he ever does show his long form, every body who has questioned it will have egg on their face. I suspect he is holding it back to let the birthers hang themselves with their own rope.

Perhaps it is correct, but if it is correct and commonly known in Africa, why is there no credible evidence of any African birth?
Perhaps they wanted to jump on a populist bandwagon.
Perhaps people in Africa want to believe it so they can claim BHO as one of their own. Everybody loves being connected to success.
Perhaps they thought it would sell more papers.
Perhaps they were simply wrong.
Any of the last four points provides a reasonable explanation.

What do you mean “it just doesn’t matter”...? Of course it matters. This is a critical Constitutional question and deserves a full and complete hearing and resolution. Unfortunately, to this point, the cowards in the judiciary have been able to further the fraud, and the pubbies ain’t got the stones to push the issue.
If we are to be a nation of laws, then we should enforce the primary law of the land...the US Constitution. We cannot choose to ignore parts of it and look the other way. There is a process by which the Constitution can be changed. IF you wish to eliminate some of it, then use the Amendment processes.
Until then, this guy is ineligible to hold the office and should vacate the office and premises immediately.
It’s time to take back the country.
But see, I differ on that point. I think the founders intended more attachment to the US than the happenstance of birth on US soil, in order to assign the attribute of "eligible to be president."
"Legal?" Sure, Congress seated the man without any question as to whether or not dual citizenship is an impediment. "Constitutional?" On the record, as far as I'm concerned, Obama was and is not eligible.
FWIW, that makes me a different species of birther. I think it (my reasoned conclusion) is worth spit, in that it will not change history. But I am of very firm personal conviction that I am correct on the con-law point, SCOTUS Wong Kim Ark case in mind, and all that.

Barack Obama, Sr. was already married to a woman in Kenya (Kezia Obama) and his student visa application would have documented that to the satisfaction of the U.S. Government.
Since bigamy is illegal in the U.S., his mother was, legally, unmarried and the Long Form Birth Certificate probably documents this legal fact.
There is also a good chance that the name on the Long Form Birth Certificate may not be "Barack Obama" but, rather, Barry Obama or Barry Dunham.
In short, the Long Form Birth Certificate would probably poke several holes in Obama's carefully cultivated public persona.
