And of course the un-volunteered email addresses could have come from another source completely—though the WH could use this for a cover explanation if they did.

I'm not so sure, 9 Year. IIRC, it is illegal for the White House, as the executive branch, to share donor lists, etc, with their respective political branches, such as reelection committees, party organizations, etc. That's why Gibbs got so snotty about Major Garrett's questions, and almost screeched that the White House was NOT using Move America Forward email lists.

Which to me, means they probably did.

I agree with you. I’m just saying they might claim to have got the specific emails that Fox gave them from that web page on their site—rather than admitting the greater wrongdoing. Kind of like the Air Force Once NYC joyride that supposedly didn’t have passengers on it and was for photography, but had plenty of stewards on the flight staff and only terrible pictures to show for their supposed effort.

Personal opinion:

I think the Dems are using a harvesting program to get email addresses to add to their database for contacting. I think they screwed up by getting all of the addresses and not just the person sending the snitch email to them.

Here ya go: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/16/white-house-e-mail/. They did use that WH web page cover, saying individuals or groups had submitted the addresses—which says to me they know full well their minions in their friendly political organizations gave them the addresses. By submission through the solicitation on their web page? My guess would be no, but they’ll never be called on it.
