The clouds were moving in the wrong direction when I was out early, NN....a sure sign that a storm is on the way. We don’t expect anything but rain though, later this afternoon.
Stay safe, Floridians.
Hey CD, ready for another sesson?Hopefuly it won’t be as crazy as last year.Since last year I was able to buy the property surrounding me and this spring had all the huge trees cut down.I was in constant fear during Ike that one of those bull pines was going to fall on the house, especialy since one of them did go over the back fence.Good to talk to ya again.
I agree about the TD in the eastern Gulf. I hope it moves in south of Houston. My husbands pastures are burned to a crisp. He is going to start buying hay for his cattle.
It's so dry here. I can't remember the last time it rained. My trees are all small though. My grapefruit and orange tree still have green fruit. I picked them the last time a storm came in but they never ripened so I guess I'll leave them alone if a storm comes in this year.
I haven’t heard the local weather guy mention the brutal high pressure that has been hanging over Texas all summer. Has it moved off of us? It didn’t seem quite as hot yesterday as it has been. I can’t believe that I am getting used to the heat, I have lived here all my life but I never have gotten accustomed to the kind of heat we have had this summer.
my brother, SIL, niece and nephew just landed in Gulf Shores, AL for a week’s vacation, yesterday. doesn’t look like it’s gonna be a good week for them, does it?
You are the very soul of precaution. ;O)
Citrus fruit has remarkable staying power on the tree during high winds. The winds would have to either blow down the tree or denude the leaves before you will lose your fruit. On the other hand, avocado trees are terribly brittle, and the fruit drops in TS winds.
TD 4 should be gone by Monday unless it stalls. Ana may be a threat Friday if it survives the Hispanola mountains.
Crown weather is a good site that’s been around for several years. Thanks!
Checking in here from Palm Beach Gardens. Thank you for these threads!!
well that doesn’t sound too terrible, i guess. Thanks for your evaluation of the situation, i appreciate it!
turtle brownies! recipe please. ;)
Hi NN,
Fortunately, I got the huge tree (leaning over my house) that has been worrying me cut. Now I have to hurry and burn the huge pile of limbs and wood from that tree before TD or hurricane winds blow it about.
They will be fine! It might rain for a few hours but the sun will be back tomorrow.
Good luck to them. They're just across the bay from where I live...down near Dauphin Island.
my SIL and i had discussed the possibility of hurricanes, but the TD4 hadn’t popped up yet when they were leaving. Hopefully they will have a few good days. i think they are driving back to NO to fly out from there. they actually live in OH. Not sure why they opted to fly into NO and drive from there, but that’s what they ended up doing.
Air fares are very expensive to/from Mobile. People around her often drive to NO or Pensacola to fly.
