Only problem is you have to drill for Nat Gas, which the Democrats want to ban with Cap and Fraud. Also, Cap and Fraud would raise Nat Gas prices 5 times hirer then they are now. So we can HAVE all the Nat Gas TB Blowhard and the other frauds claim and their political buddies, the Democrats, STILL will not let us go get it!
Without the ability to go get at that gas and bring lots more to market, the increased demand on the existing gas supply will raise prices on that energy. The biggest impediment to getting that gas to market......is the federal government.
T.Boone gimme your money Pickens always has something up his sleeve. He’s a Dem and a RAT and way too liberal for me.
He’s out there with his wife who wants that crazy legislation on wild horses and 700 million acres -
i don’t begrudge a man making an honest living but a few months ago Pickens was all over windmills. To me, he’s an opportunist to make a buck off of your back
JUST DO IT!!!
If it's such a great deal, you can do it yourself. You don't need Washington to 'help' you, unless your just trying to run a scam on the taxpayers.
Note that the carbon footprint of natural gas is approximately 2/3 that of oil or coal (easily checked on Wikipedia). That’s not good enough for the Carbon Fanatics.
This has as much to do with new technology as anything else. The better we get at drilling, the more oil/gas comes into play both from new sources and old.
YIKES! Where was the BARF ALERT?
HOLY COW!!!!
Common sense coming from Democrats? Gore? Oh my goodness...
Pickens plan with or without windmills is awesome...put our own natural gas into the transportation sector.
Boone mentions 6.5 million 18 wheelers. Add in the UPS, FedEx, Us Mail trucks, city cabs, city vehicles, any fleet of vehicles that can be fueled efficiently.
Gradually add nat gas fueling stations around the cities for us, the great unwashed...pretty soon, we are putting Americans to work and sending less $$ overseas.
I would buy a nat gas vehicle if there were fueling stations around. But lets start with the big fleets...
GREAT
Typically there are more natural gas stations that one thinks. Many U-Hauls do natural gas.
T. Bill’s hedge fund company made him at least $21 billion a year a few times in the past few years. This is not uncommon for the largest hedge fund scammers.
Typo - should be $1 billion a year not $21 billion. T. Boone has made that much personally.
If it is new technology that is needed to acquire natural gas, there is an even more ginormous supply, taken from the ocean depths.
About 1,500 feet down, on the continental shelf, where the water temperature stays at a steady 38 degrees F, there is a quantity of a substance called Methane Hydrate. in which some 166 volumes of methane (the major component of natural gas) are held in a matrix of water molecules, and reduced down to one volume. This substance occurs naturally, it is slightly heaver than water, and simply accumulates on the continental shelf around the planet, just lying there as nuggets in the ooze.
Methane Hydrate is amorphous, that is, it has no crystalline structure, but is kind of a gel. Machinery that is rather like either a large suction apparatus, could pull this substance up, or a simple dredge line could scoop pieces up and convey them to a submerged receiving chamber. Here, the debris would be allowed to fall away, all the while keeping the Methane Hydrate stored near the temperature where it would be stable. When the debris is cleared out of the submerged chamber, then warm water from the surface is drawn down and allowed to warm the Methane Hydrate, which then goes through phase change, and the methane is released from its containment through a vertical pipe, to a collection and compression apparatus on the platform above. The practical application is to compress and cool the released methane to liquified natural gas, and transport it in refrigerated ships to the port, where it is transferred to storage units until it is warmed and sent into natural gas distribution pipelines.
The cooled and compressed natural gas COULD be used directly as a motor fuel, except it has to be kept below the critical temperature of -260 degrees F, which requires a considerable amount of highly effective insulation and pressure controls. Methane has a rather low energy density per pound, and even compressed, takes up a comparatively large volume per pound. But internal combustion engines burn the fuel quite cleanly, there being almost complete combustion and virtually no carbon monoxide formed in the exhaust, much cleaner than Diesel or even good quality gasoline.
The Dems want a way out of the hole they’ve dug for themselves. I don’t think they care about the environment at the end of the day even one bit; they care about getting re-elected. Natural gas is the “out” that they need to make it happen.
Breakthroughs in the last few years have made supply ample. And natural gas is much, much less carbon-intensive than coal. So I look for natural gas to be the way that dems come down from their high horses. they’ll refer to this as a “bridge fuel” that will help for the next few years until we figure out some other alternatives.
And you now what, as desparate as the dems are right now, this will work for them. Mark my words. this is how they plan to snatch victory from the jaws of a massive defeat. Cap and trade will die, and it will be replaced by a much more modest agenda that will include somewhat higher taxes on fossil fuels and a big push for natural gas.
Now if we could get to all that Methane Hydrate on the bottom of the ocean up there.
I thought U-Haul, and many gas stations did Propane, which is a component of NG. But still, you point is taken, they're setup already to distribute liquefied gas, albeit on a smaller scale than would be required to fill up 100's of vehicles a day.
Pickens is a scammer, don’t be taken in by him.

Use of natural gas in vehicles in extended fleets show it to be not quite ready for prime time. Or even two in the morning infomercials.
Talk to any of the motor pool troops who had to deal with it at Tinker Air Force Base.
Here are a few examples to demonstrate my point:
